Dometic Expands Network to Gulf of Mexico

Dometic Marine supplied its modular chillers for Signet Maritime Tugboats, built at the Trinity Yachts shipyard in Gulfport, Mississippi

Dometic Marine established a new base in the Gulf of Mexico as part of its strategy to target further business in the commercial sector. The addition of the facility in Slidell, La. to its extensive global network places the HVAC and toilet systems specialist at the heart of the United States’ commercial market. Driven by the current boom in the oil and gas industry, the shipyards are facing a surge in demand for oilfield-related orders including Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs) and Dometic Marine is now perfectly positioned to respond to the needs of Gulf shipyards, according to the company.

Heinen & Hopman Complete HVAC Project

Heinen & Hopman in the Netherlands has completed the installation of a major HVAC system onboard the Dolwin Alpha offshore converter platform. Designed by IV-Oil and Gas, commissioned by Tennet/ABB and built by Heerema Fabrication group, the platform is now ready to be moved to the North Sea. This project involved the complete design and engineering of the HVAC systems, which Heinen & Hopman completed on time and to satisfaction. Heinen & Hopman received the initial order from the Heerema Fabrication group to become the HVAC subcontractor for the Dolwin Alpha project in July 2011.

Dometic Marine Supplies Chilled Water Systems to Signet

Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) specialist Dometic Marine has recently secured orders to supply its chilled water equipment to high performance tug builder Signet Maritime. As part of the new contract, Dometic Marine will supply its chillers on-board three  Signet 82 Metric Ton Bollard Pull Z-Drive tugs, to provide each vessel with 240,000 BTU (British Thermal Unit) or 20 tons of capacity. "We require the highest quality and proven-reliable air conditioning to provide a comfortable and pleasant working environment for our crew members, as well as cool sensitive electronic equipment on-board," said Joseph W. Dahl, General Manager of New Construction for Signet Maritime.

Dometic Marine Compact Chilled Water Systems

Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) specialist Dometic Marine will launch the Marine Air Chiller Compact to the commercial, work boat and military markets at this year's Seawork International. Featuring an innovative and compact space-saving design, the chilled water system is suitable for a range of applications including cooling of on-board spaces and marine electronics. The Marine Air Chiller Compact provides 16,000 to 24,000 BTUs (British thermal unit) and easily attaches to air handlers to provide ideal temperatures in the pilothouse or crew accommodation areas. For vessels working in warmer climates, the chilled water system can be used as a dedicated cooling aid for navigation…
