Unions at Shell Plc's Prelude floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) site off Australia have extended industrial action to Sept. 1 over a long-running pay dispute, the company said on Thursday. Shell shut down the 3.6-million-tonne-a-year site in July and told customers it would be unable to supply LNG cargoes for the duration of work stoppages approved by Australia's Fair Work Commission, or Protected Industrial Action (PIA). "We can confirm it's been renewed until Sept. 1," a Shell spokesperson said of the protected industrial action. The work stoppages began on June 10 and no cargoes have been shipped from the site in about five weeks, worsening a global LNG supply crunch amid the Ukraine conflict.

Shell Plc said on Monday it has resumed shipping liquefied natural gas (LNG) from its Prelude floating LNG facility off northwest Australia after a four-month shutdown due to a major power failure.A cargo completed loading and left the site on Sunday night, a Shell spokesperson said, declining to disclose the destination."Our focus at Prelude remains on the long-term and delivering safe, sustained and reliable performance into the future," Shell said in a statement.The 3.6 million-tonnes-a-year Prelude FLNG facility lost power on Dec.

Orders for gas carriers placed with Korean and Japanese shipyards figure prominently amongst the latest newbuilding orders noted in the latest Clarkson Hellas S&P Weekly Bulletin. Pan Ocean have placed an order for two firm 207,000 dwt Newcastlemaxes at New Times, with both vessels due to deliver within the second half of 2016. Also in China, Clarkson Hellas mentions that Conti Reederei have extended their order for 64,000 dwt Ultramax to a total of 20 vessels by declaring a further eight options. The first in the series will begin to deliver in the early part of next year, with the latest additions for delivery from 2017 onwards. In the same sector JJ Ugland have announced an order at Imabari for two firm 63,000 dwt Ultramax due to deliver in 2017.

Taiwan's Chinese Petroleum Corp. (CPC) has cut spot bunker fuel oil prices to $171 per ton from $181 effective from Tuesday. The posted prices were for spot 180 and 380-centistoke bunker fuel delivered to ships at the ports of Kaohsiung, Keelung, Hualien, Taichung and Suao. Its term price was $3.00 lower at $168 for both grades at the same ports. Spot and term prices of marine gas oil (MGO) were reduced to $312 and $309 per ton, down from last week's $314 and $311, respectively. Marine diesel oil (MDO) was set at $306 and $303, for spot and term respectively.

Taiwan's state-owned Chinese Petroleum Corp (CPC) has bought two very large crude carriers (VLCC) of West African crudes via its September tender, a company official said on Thursday. The volumes were below CPC's usual purchase of three to four VLCCs per month. Each VLCC can load up to two million barrels each. "We have high inventories and not so much requirement," the CPC official said. The details of the tender, which closed on Monday, were still unclear. CPC usually buys an array of Cameroon, Nigerian and Congolese crudes and its regular sellers include TotalFinaElf, Agip and Chevron. For August, CPC had bought cargoes of Escravos, Djeno, Palanca, Odudu and Kole to make up three VLCCs.

Taiwan state-owned Chinese Petroleum Corp (CPC) is likely to award two VLCCs of West African crudes in its January tender, traders said. They said the grades to be awarded were the preferred grades which included Djeno, Forcados and Kole, but details of the offers were sketchy.
