Horne Named VP of Trades at Newport News Shipbuilding

HII announced David Horne has been promoted to vice president of trades at its Newport News Shipbuilding division.Horne’s promotion comes following the restructuring of trades and human resources and administration from one large organization into two standalone organizations. Xavier Beale will continue as vice president of human resources and administration. Both Horne and Beale will report directly to NNS President Jennifer Boykin.“Each part of this organization is critical to our success,” Boykin said.

HII Promotes Jones, Fuller at its Newport News Shipbuilding

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced changes to its leadership team at its Newport News Shipbuilding division, effective March 13.Julia Jones was promoted to vice president of manufacturing and facilities, where she is responsible for all manufacturing and facilities operations. She has served as the acting vice president since January. Jones has more than 22 years of shipbuilding experience, including positions of increasing responsibility in operations, planning, manufacturing, nuclear support and corporate strategic planning.

NNS Employee Gains 'Woman of Distinction' Award

Huntington Ingalls Industries' Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) employee is honored  with a YWCA Women of Distinction Award. Stephanie Simmons, director of Navy Program Operations, was recognized in the science and technology category at a ceremony at Christopher Newport University. In choosing the YWCA Women of Distinction Award recipients, a selection committee takes into consideration the nominees' professional and civic achievements, as well as how the nominees exemplify the values and mission of the organization.

Three Exec Appointments at Newport News

Northrop Grumman Corporation announces the following three executive appointments in its Newport News sector: Becky Stewart, currently vice president, Surface Ship and Submarine Fleet Maintenance Program has been named head of the Submarine Program; Irwin F. Edenzon, currently vice president, Business and Technology Development, has been named vice president, Technology Development and Fleet Support; and John J. promoted to vice president, Business Development. Northrop Grumman Corporation's Newport News sector has promoted Becky Stewart to vice president, Surface Ship and Submarine Fleet Maintenance and Veasey Wilson is promoted to vice president, Supply Chain Management. Stewart, who previously served as director for Surface Ship and Submarine Fleet Maintenance, is responsible for all aspects of naval and commercial surface ship and submarine fleet maintenance from pre-contract through delivery.
