Tankship, Gas Carrier, Containership Newbuilds: Latest Orders

Reported business this week has been focussed on the tanker, container and gas markets, says Clarkson Hellas in their latest S&P Weekly Bulletin. Whilst under discussion for some months, Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers have now signed two firm plus two optional 160,000dwt Shuttle Tankers at HHI. Delivery of the firm vessels is planned from end 2016, with options into 2017. In Japan, a yet unknown European owner is understood to have contracted a single 50,000dwt MR product tanker at Onomichi, with delivery in late 2018. No pricing has been disclosed. A number of orders in gas are reported by Clarkson Hellas, starting with the largest sizes, BW Gas have confirmed an order for two firm 173,400cbm LNG carriers at DSME.

Latest Ocean-going Shipbuilding Orders

A number of orders are reported by Clarkson Hellas in their latest S&P Weekly Bulletin, with contracts being signed across the Dry Bulk, Tanker and Container markets. Activity has been focused amongst the small/midsized vessels with Empros Lines reported to have signed up for a pair of 63,000 dwt Ultramax bulkers at Imabari. Delivery of both vessels is scheduled in 2016. Inui Steamship meanwhile are reported to have turned to Onomichi Dockyard for one 60,000 dwt bulker with delivery much later in early 2018. In amongst the smaller handysizes, Nissen Kaiun K.K. are understood by Clarkson Hellas to have placed an order at Shikoku dock for a pair of 34,500 dwt Handysize bulk carriers, which are the 2nd and 3rd vessels in this series on order and will deliver in 2016 and 2017.

Newbuilding Orders: Summer Lethargy Lingers

Despite some anticipation in increased activity as the summer holidays come to an end, there are just two orders to report this week both focused on the more specialised markets, says Clarkson Hellas in their latest S&P Weekly Bulletin. There has been one addition to the orderbook for Asphalt & Bitumen carriers, with a yet unknown European owner contracting a single 37,000dwt vessel at Hyundai Mipo. Delivery is understood to be in early 2017, with pricing around USD 50 Mill. This is the largest size vessel of this type currently on order, although on a par with one unit contracted at AVIC Dingheng by Sargeant Marine Inc. (USA) in the final quarter of last year.

Latest Ocean-Going Shipbuilding Orders

A couple of orders to report in dry this week with Santoku Senpaku adding further Kamsarmax to their orderbook, this time for two firm 82,000 dot bulk carriers at Tsuneishi Zosen with delivery in 2017. Navibulgar have also contracted four firm plus two option 42,300 dot Ice 1C Handymax. Delivery is due in 2016 with pricing understood to be just above USD 24 Mill per vessel. In tankers, Sungdong have added two firm widebeam 74.5k DWT LR1 to their orderbook with an order from Nisshin. Delivery is from the end of 2016. In gas, KSS Line have announced that they have added a third vessel to their series of 84,000 CBM VLGCs at HHI, with delivery of the latest vessel in mid-2016.

Week's Ocean-Going Shipbuilding Orders Sparse

COSCO Zhoushan have announced a contract for two 64,000 dwt Ultramax with deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2016 and the first quarter of 2017 respectively. It is understood that these are the options declared by clients of Hong Kong owner KC Maritime who had signed the contracts for the two firm units in the end of last year for delivery in the fourth quarter of this year. Compared to dry, more activity was seen by Clarkson Hellas in tankers with clients of Navig8 Chemical Tankers contracting four firm plus four option 49,000 dwt IMO-II MRs at STX Offshore & Shipbuilding in Korea. Deliveries of the firm units are from 2016 and the vessels will be built at STX’s Jinhae facilities.

China Shipyards Bag the Week's Ocean-going Newbuild Orders

Reported ordering this week has been exclusively focussed on the Chinese yards, says Clarkson Hellas in their latest 'S&P Weekly Bulletin'. COSCO Shipyards have announced a number of orders, inform Clarkson Hellas with two firm plus two option x 82,000 dwt Kamsarmaxes contracted for KC Maritime and a two further 82k Kamsarmax for a European owner. Both orders were placed at COSCO Dalian, with delivery from the later part of 2015 and the majority to be delivered in the first half of 2016. At COSCO Zhoushan, KC Maritime have also increased their orders for 64,000 dwt Ultramax by adding two further vessels taking the total series to four. The latest additions are due for delivery in the first quarter of 2016.

Global Ocean Trade: Latest Shipbuilding Orders

No tankship orders noted the past week by Clarkson Hellas in their latest S&P Weekly Bulletin, but no lack of orders in the dry bulk carrier market, all from Far East shipbuilders. Foremost Maritime are understood by Clarkson Hellas to have added a further four 180,000 dwt Capesize to their orderbook at Beihai, taking the series to six vessels. Delivery is planned from end 2015 and through 2016. Reuben Brothers have ordered two 82,000 dwt bulk carriers at JMU Yokohama. The vessels are due for delivery in early 2016, and take the buyers total Kamsarmax orderbook to seven, with existing orders for five units at Sungdong. Shih Wei Navigation are understood to have added a further 60k Supramax at Onomichi…

Global Ocean Trade: Latest Shipbuilding Orders

A relatively steady week in the newbuilding market in terms of volume of ordering remarks Clarkson Hellas in their latest S&P Weekly Bulletin, most for LNG carriers. In Dry, Sungdong Shipbuilding have signed contracts with Teh-Hu (Hong Kong) for one firm plus one option 180,000 dwt Capesize, with delivery in the third and fourth quarters of 2016. Clients of Victoria Steamship are understood by Clarkson Hellas to to have ordered three firm plus three option 64,000 dwt Ultramax at Nantong Hongqiang. This follows their previous order for the same quantity of Ultramax at Jiangsu Haitong last month, with these latest orders for delivery from late 2015 onwards. Just one order in tankers, with clients of Polembros Shipping contracting two firm plus two option 159,000 dwt Suezmax at HHI.

Orders for gas carriers placed with Korean and Japanese shipyards figure prominently amongst the latest newbuilding orders noted in the latest Clarkson Hellas S&P Weekly Bulletin. Pan Ocean have placed an order for two firm 207,000 dwt Newcastlemaxes at New Times, with both vessels due to deliver within the second half of 2016. Also in China, Clarkson Hellas mentions that Conti Reederei have extended their order for 64,000 dwt Ultramax to a total of 20 vessels by declaring a further eight options. The first in the series will begin to deliver in the early part of next year, with the latest additions for delivery from 2017 onwards. In the same sector JJ Ugland have announced an order at Imabari for two firm 63,000 dwt Ultramax due to deliver in 2017.

China & Japan shipbuilders scoop the pool of international shipbuilding orders according to the latest Clarkson Hellas S&P Weekly Bulletin. Clarkson Hellas says that Pan Ocean has placed an order for two firm 207,000 dwt Newcastlemaxes at New Times, with both vessels due to deliver within the second half of 2016. Also in China, Conti Reederei have extended their order for 64,000 dwt Ultramax to a total of 20 vessels by declaring a further eight options. The first in the series will begin to deliver in the early part of next year, with the latest additions for delivery from 2017 onwards. In the same sector JJ Ugland have announced an order at Imabari for two firm 63,000 dwt Ultramax due to deliver in 2017.

Global Ocean Trade: Latest Shipbuilding Orders

Tsuneishi have taken an order at their Cebu facility in the Philippines for a total of three 81,600 DWT Kamsarmax for Japanese buyers. Nissen Kaiun declared two further options taking their total series on order to five vessels, with an additional order for a single unit by Hisafuku Kisen – all due for delivery in 2016. In the smaller sizes, China Navigation announced an order for four firm 38,000 DWT Handysize at Imabari, with delivery planned for 2017. Clarkson Hellas note that a yet unknown Greek buyer has contracted one firm plus up to four option 15,500 DWT Self-Unloaders at Nantong Rainbow. Understood to be for use carrying rock salt, delivery is planned within 2016.

Global Ocean Trade: Latest Shipbuilding Orders

Shipbuilding orders for drybulk carriers, tankships, containerships and a RoRo were placed in the past week according to 'Clarkson Hellas S&P Weekly Bulletin'. Cara Shipping, the shipping arm of Chinese domestic company Rizhao Steel, has placed orders for two further 250,000dwt VLOCs at Beihai shipyard. These are declared options with both vessels understood by Clarkson Hellas to be delivering in 2016. Wisdom Marine has continued to expand its orderbook in Japan, announcing an order for a 62,000 dwt bulker at Oshima, to be delivered in 2017 as well as a 37,600 dwt Handysize bulker at Imabari again for delivery in 2017. Global Ocean Trade: Latest Shipbuilding Orders

The past week was a relatively quiet one in the world's deep-sea shipbuilding market, reports Clarkson Hellas S&P in its latest 'Weekly Bulletin'. Santoku Senpaku are understood by Clarkson Hellas to have declared two further options for 81,500 dwt Kamsarmax at Tsuneishi Zhoushan, taking the total series to five firm vessels. Delivery of the latest orders is planned for the later part of 2016 and into early 2017. Knutsen (in a 50/50 joint venture with NYK) have contracted two firm 176,000 cu.m LNG carriers at HHI. Both are understood to be for charter to Gas Natural Fenosa when delivered in 2016 and 2017. Additionally, West Africa LPG have ordered a single 38,000 cu.m LPG carrier at HMD, with delivery in the later part of 2016.

Global Ocean Trade Shipbuilding Orders

Another relatively quiet week with no reports of new shipbuilding orders in either the dry bulk and tankship markets, remarks Clarkson Hellas in its latest S&P Weekly Bulletiln. Odfjell Gas Carriers declared their options for four 22,000 CBM LPG/Ethylene Carriers at Sinopacific Offshore for deliveries in 2016 and 2017. Clarkson Hellas explain that these are the options from four 17,000 CBM LPG/Ethylene Carriers which were contracted last year for deliveries throughout 2015 and 2016. Clients of Schulte Group are understood to have increased their series of 2,350 TEU Containers at Zhejiang Yangfan to sixteen vessels by declaring four options. Delivery of the optional vessels is planned within 2016.

Far East Shipyards Bag the Week's Newbuilding Orders

South Korea, Japan and China shipyards update their order books with a clean haul of ocean-going newbuilding contracts, detailed as follows in the latest Clarkson Hellas S&P Weekly Bulletin. Clarkson Hellas report a few orders in dry, starting with the American fund Doonbeg Group ordering four firm plus four option 64,000 DWT Ultramax at Zhejiang Yangfan in China for delivery in 2015 and 2016 for the firm vessels. (This order is understood to have been signed last month, although it came to light this week). Another order which came to light this week was from Clients of Neda Maritime contracting four firm 82,000 DWT Kamsarmax with Tsuneishi Zhoushan at the end of last year. Delivery of the vessels will be within the 2nd half of 2016.

Latest Global Ocean Trade Shipbuilding Orders

A relatively quiet week in the dry bulkship and tankship newbuilding market according to Clarkson Hellas in its latest S&P Bulletin. Kuang Ming Shipping are understood by Clarkson Hellas to have contracted two firm 61,000 DWT Ultramax bulkers at Imabari. The final newbuilding price is unconfirmed, although both vessels will deliver in 2017. Similarly just one order to report in tankers, with clients of Eastern Pacific understood to have signed contracts for three firm plus two option 158,000 DWT Suezmax tankers at Sungdong. The firm vessels are due to deliver within the second half of 2016, with options in 2017 if declared. Clarkson Hellas report that Shandong Shipping have declared options for two further 84,000 CBM LPG Carriers at DSME.

Dry Bulk Carrier Newbuilding Orders Surge

Dry bulk carrier newbuilding orders predominate among the contracts reported in the latest issue of the Clarkson Hellas S&P Weekly Bulletin. One order is reported by Clarkson Hellas in the larger dry sizes this week, with Foremost Maritime contracting two firm 180,000 DWT Capesize at Beihai Shipyard. Delivery of the first vessel is due in the later part of 2015, with the second due in the final quarter of 2016. In Japan, First Steamship are reported to have contracted a single 85,000 DWT post-panamax bulk carrier at Sasebo Heavy, due to deliver in 2016.

Clarkson Hellas understand that Golden Union have declared options for three further 81,200 DWT Kamsarmax at AVIC Weihai Shipyard for deliveries throughout 2016 and 2017 to add to their existing two units currently under construction. Latest Global Ocean Trade Shipbuilding Orders

The past week was relatively quiet with no shipbuilding orders seen in the tankship or gas carrier sector, according to the latest Clarkson Hellas S&P Weekly Bulletin. A large order of twelve firm plus eighteen option 64,000 DWT Ultramax vessels was placed from Minsheng Financial Leasing at their compatriot yard in China, CIC Jiangsu. The vessels will be delivered from 2015. Victoria Steamship contracted one firm plus three option 95,000 DWT Bulk Carriers at Jiangsu Eastern due for delivery from 3Q 2015 onwards.

Latest Global Ocean Trade Shipbuilding Orders

Clarkson Hellas notes that Oldendorff Carriers have declared their options for six 64,000 DWT Ultramax at Qingshan Shipyard and one 94,000 DWT self-unloader at Jiangsu New YZJ. Pricing was not disclosed, but delivery is reported to be from 4Q in 2016 for the Ultramax and due in 2Q 2015 for the self-unloader. From Japan, Namura have signed two 81,700 DWT Kamsarmax with the Taiwanese owner Wisdom Marine for delivery in 2016. In the larger sizes, Sincere Navigation have declared their option for one 250,000 DWT ore carrier, taking the series to two vessels. The vessel will be delivered in 2016.

Sinotrans Shipping have signed contracts for two firm 78,000 DWT Panamax at Jiangnan Shipyard. This order is understood by Clarkson Hellas to have been under discussion for some time, and commits two remaining slots within end 2015 basis the yard’s existing Panamax design. It has also been reported that the same owner has ordered four firm 64,000 DWT Ultramax at Chengxi Shipyard for delivery within 2016, with the deal having been concluded just prior to the Lunar New Year. This week Clarkson Hellas say that Bocimar has announced an order for two firm 206,000 DWT Newcastlemax and one firm 180,000 DWT Capesize at Imabari, with delivery of all three vessels in 2016. Also at Imabari, Wisdom Marine announced an order for two firm 81,000 DWT Kamsarmax. Pricing is understood to be in the region USD 33-Millionper vessel with delivery in 2016.
