Norwegian offshore wind services company Edda Wind has ordered three more Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOV) in addition to the six vessels the company has under construction. The vessels are designed for service operations during the commissioning and operation of offshore wind farms. Sri Lanka shipbuilder Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC) said it is moving toward executing an already signed contract with Misje Eco Bulk AS to build a series of six bulk carriers, with options for up to four additional vessels. Sri Lanka's Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC) delivered its biggest and most sophisticated vessel, the submarine cable-laying ship KDDI Cable Infinity built for Japan's Kokusai Cable Ship Co.The KDDI Cable Infinity is meant for subsea operation and cable installation and repair works of optical cables as well as power cables. Sri Lanka's leading ship repair, ship building, heavy engineering and offshore engineering facility Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC)  inked an agreement with PANASIA, Korea as a partner for Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) and Scrubber installation.This collaboration with PANASIA will allow Colombo Dockyard to offer this service of installation of BWMS and Scrubbers to its clientele, said a press release from the ship building company is based in Colombo.Colombo Dockyard has already installed eight Numbers PANASIA Ballast Water Management Systems on its new construction vessels; this is an added positive factor for ship owners to look at Colombo Dockyard confidently for repair and installation solutions of BWMS.

The leader of Shipbuilding Industry in Sri Lanka Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC) has successfully secured a contract with Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) of Japan to build two vessels; Pilot Station Vessel and Buoy Tender Vessel, for General Company for Port of Iraq (GCPI). TTC and GCPI signed the Prime Contract on 27th April 2018 in Dubai. Subsequent to the signing of the Prime Contract, TTC signed the Sub Contract Agreement with CDPLC as TTC’s preferred Shipyard for the construction of these vessels on 2nd May 2018 in Japan. TTC is a trading and investing company which is also a group company of TOYOTA. By recognizing the potential of CDPLC, TTC decided to collaborate with CDPLC for this project to compete and submit bid proposals in response to a tender floated by GCPI in July 2017.

A keel laying ceremony held on September 7, 2017 at Colombo Dockyard PLC in Sri Lanka signaled the start of construction on a new cable lay vessel for Japanese owner Kokusai Cable Ship Co. Ltd (KCS). Two new 150-ton-bollard-pull anchor handling offshore support vessels (AHOSVs) being built at the Colombo Dockyard in Sri Lanka have been designed by Wärtsilä and will be powered by Wärtsilä integrated propulsion systems. The order was placed in August and the equipment is scheduled for fast-track delivery in July 2015. The 78-meter-long vessels will be employed for anchor handling operations in offshore sector applications. The propulsion system selected for the vessels will include a nine-cylinder Wärtsilä 32 engine operating on marine diesel oil (MDO).

Greatship Global Offshore Services Pte. Ltd. (GGOS), a Singapore incorporated subsidiary of Greatship (India) Limited (GIL), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited has taken delivery of a Platform/ROV  Support Vessel, GREATSHIP RAGINI, from Colombo Dockyard Plc, Sri Lanka. Greatship Ragini is a DP2 vessel, capable of supporting offshore exploration and production and has been built complying with the SPS Code 2008. With the delivery of Greatship Ragini, GIL and its subsidiaries currently own and operate four PSVs, nine AHTSVs, two MPSSVs, six ROVSVs, two jack up rigs and have one 350 feet jack up rig under construction in UAE.

Today (9.02.2011) for the first time in the history of local shipbuilding industry, Colombo Dockyard named a vessel which will be charted by the owner Greatship Group, for the world renowned Brazilian Oil Company PETROBRAS.
