Safariland Group Acquires Tactical Command Industries

The Safariland Group, a global provider of safety and survivability products designed for the public safety, military, professional and outdoor markets, has acquired Tactical Command Industries, Inc. (TCI), a communications integration business focused on tactical communications systems, including customized and commercial off the shelf headsets and audio solutions. TCI operates out of facilities located in Brentwood, California and Gilmanton, New Hampshire. TCI was founded in 1996 by a group of law enforcement professionals with extensive experience in tactical training and mission work. Having skilled operators at the forefront of TCI’s product development programs, they are adept at both small custom integration projects as well as large defense procurement opportunities.

Cargotec Bridges Automation Gap for Containers

Cargotec has expanded its portfolio with an automated lashing platform for fully automated quayside twistlock handling. Under the terms of an exclusive global licensing agreement, Cargotec has assumed full responsibility for KALP GmbH's automated lashing platform products and services. The platforms will be rebranded under Cargotec's daughter brand Kalmar. Today, stevedores manually remove twistlocks during the discharge process and fix them during the load process. Cargotec can now bridge the automation gap between ship to shore cranes and horizontal transportation. The innovative automated lashing platform is the only fully automated coning and de-coning device on the market for use in ports. Northrop Grumman Taps Johnson as VP for BAMS

Northrop Grumman Corporation appointed Carl Johnson to vice president of Programs-Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) within the company's Integrated Systems sector. Northrop Grumman's BAMS solution incorporates maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities into the Global Hawk Block 20 air vehicle. The system can carry up to 3,000 pounds of payload comprising a variety of sensors optimized for searching, tracking and identifying targets, while collecting and transmitting data over open ocean and littoral areas. Northrop Grumman's offer includes an RQ-4N air vehicle derived from the RQ-4B Global Hawk, uniquely configured for the Navy and the maritime ISR domain. A contract is expected to be awarded later this year.
