Vestas Partners with Maersk on Containerized Transport

Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas and shipping giant Maersk have formed a long-term strategic partnership for all containerized transport, including door-to-door transport from the company's suppliers to their factories and service warehouses as well as containerized site parts and transport equipment.The partnership, which becomes effective January 1, 2022, also includes all airfreight shipments, but not non-containerized road transport and outbound transport, which will continue to be managed by DSV and other partners.By partnering with Maersk…

Danelec to Supply VDRs to Transas

Transas and Danelec Marine announced that Transas has selected Danelec Marine as one of the company’s suppliers of Voyage Data Recorders (VDRs). Under the agreement, Transas becomes an authorized partner for Danelec Marine, providing VDRs for newbuilds and retrofits through its sales offices and representatives around the world. The Danelec DM100 is the first VDR type approved and Wheelmarked under the new International Maritime Organization (IMO) standard, which came into force July 1, 2014. Maersk Line Introduces Sustainable Container Floors

Today, Maersk Line announced a new policy to refrain from purchasing containers with floors made of uncertified tropical hardwood. “Illegal logging is widely recognised as a serious threat to forests, people and wildlife. We feel obligated to use our purchasing power to push for higher standards and ensure that the timber we use for container floors come from responsible forestry,” says Jacob Sterling, Head of Climate & Environment, Maersk Line. Traditionally, shipping lines have had their containers fitted with tropical hardwood floors.
