STX France Shipyard Adds More Automated Welding

A good order book and need for higher capacity in the dock were the basis for STX France to purchase more welding automation for its shipyard’s panel welding. STX France decided to turn to Pemamek after a competitive offering round, and purchased PEMA Integrated One-sided Laser-Hybrid Welding and Milling Station with conveyor solution for welding deck plates together. To secure fast and reliable delivery of the welding line, STX France also included in its order installation, training and commissioning of the complete solution.

Port of LA's TracPac RMG Cranes to be Integrated by Kalmar

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has been awarded a contract for the integration of the controls for the new rail mounted gantry (RMG) cranes at the intermodal yard of TraPac Inc's terminal at the Port of Los Angeles. Kalmar explain that the RMGs will be supplied to TraPac by PACECO with the Kalmar Terminal Logistic System (TLS) ensuring they are integrated in the automated operations. TLS is part of the Kalmar SmartPort equipment automation portfolio. The intermodal yard is a substantial part of the terminal, with 30 percent of the TEUs shipped inland by rail.

Seaspan’s Selects PEMA Equipment for NSPS Project

The National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS) is an initiative of the Canadian Government to build new ships for the Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard. Seaspan’s Vancouver Shipyards won the right to bid on the non-combat vessels under this strategy, and as such is proceeding with a $200 million Shipyard Modernization Program to support execution. As a part of modernization project, Seaspan selected PEMA welding automation equipment for their panel production.

Pemamek Wins Contract

Pemamek Oy Ltd was recently awarded a contract of Aker Philadelphia Shipyard, construction and delivery of a micro panel line. Commissioning in early 2013, the new modern micro panel line replaces the existing one. This new line will increase the shipyard’s productivity and therefore improve Aker Philadelphia Shipyards positioning at the market. Additionally, Pemamek Ltd contracted a yearly maintenance contract for the equipment and software for fully support in periodical maintenance and so enabling continuous production.
