GNH to Expand Oerations in Northern UAE

Gulf Navigation Holding (GNH) announces the initiation of studies for large expansion of its operations in the northern region of the United Arab Emirates consisting of a set of comprehensive maritime activities, (the GNH Northern Project), including ship building, ship repair and offshore platforms, equipment and services, logistics, marine specialized operations and global mobile ship repair and services including a float and during voyage. The eastern coast of the United Arab Emirates is considered one of the most important trade route in the world and berthing areas and it is the world’s second leader in the supply and ship refueling/ bunkering, per studies at least over 200 work boats are employed for offshore support and supply in the eastern coast.

Aqualis Offshore and CSDC Join Forces

Aqualis Offshore and China Ship Design & Research Center Co., Ltd (CSDC) have signed an agreement to cooperate on engineering projects both in China and internationally. CSDC, a subsidiary company of China Shipbuilding Industry Corp (CSIC), specializes in shipbuilding and offshore engineering services. Aqualis Offshore, part of Oslo-listed Aqualis ASA, is a specialized offshore marine and engineering consultancy firm, focusing on the shallow and deep-water offshore segments of the oil and gas industry. Under the agreement, Aqualis Offshore and CSDC will cooperate in the fields of engineering, project management, research, innovation and marketing. A key objective is to develop a joint engineering service to offshore newbuild projects in China and elsewhere.

License Agreement Signed by MAN Diesel & Turbo at SMM

On Tuesday September 9, 2014 at Hamburg’s SMM Marine trade fair, MAN Diesel & Turbo signed a new license agreement with QMD, a member of the CSIC Group together with Dalian Marine Diesel Co., Ltd. and Yichang Marine Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. In the process, QMD became MAN Diesel & Turbo’s 12th Chinese licensee. QMD (Qingdao Haixi Marine Diesel Co., Ltd) can boast of a modern facility dedicated to the production of large, two-stroke engines in NE China. For over 30 years, we have had a successful license agreement with CSIC, which QMD belongs to, and we look forward to an equally fruitful cooperation with our new licensee,” Engberg added.

Global Ocean Trade: Latest Shipbuilding Orders

Shipbuilding orders for drybulk carriers, tankships, containerships and a RoRo were placed in the past week according to 'Clarkson Hellas S&P Weekly Bulletin'. Cara Shipping, the shipping arm of Chinese domestic company Rizhao Steel, has placed orders for two further 250,000dwt VLOCs at Beihai shipyard. These are declared options with both vessels understood by Clarkson Hellas to be delivering in 2016. Wisdom Marine has continued to expand its orderbook in Japan, announcing an order for a 62,000 dwt bulker at Oshima, to be delivered in 2017 as well as a 37,600 dwt Handysize bulker at Imabari again for delivery in 2017. New Hospital Ship to be Classed by LR

Lloyd’s Register (LR) says it is honored to be the classification society of choice for Mercy Ships latest endeavour, a new 36,600 GRT hospital ship scheduled for completion in 2017, and to be named 'Atlantic Mercy'. LR explain that the hospital ship will be designed by the Finnish firm Deltamarin and the vessel will be built at CSIC group’s Tianjin Xingang Shipyard in China. Stena RoRo will manage the actual project construction under the leadership of Per Westling, Managing Director.

Dalian to Produce and Sell Kappel Propellers in China

On August 30, 2013 MAN Diesel & Turbo signed an agreement regarding the production of its Kappel propeller portfolio with Dalian Marine Propeller Co., Ltd (DMMP) – part of the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) Group – at its facility in Frederikshavn, Denmark. The deal allows DMMP to produce and sell MAN Alpha Kappel design propellers in China. MAN Diesel & Turbo subsequently announced that DMMP has signed a Kappel design propeller contract with Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co.

Deltamarin Designs Car Carriers at Chinese Shipyard

Deltamarin Ltd. signed a contract with the Chinese Tianjin Xingang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry for Approval and Detail Design work for the two (plus two options) Post Panamax Car Carriers ordered by the Swedish shipowner Wallenius Lines. Prior to this contract, Deltamarin has already developed the Outline and Contract Design together with the shipyard for the owner. Tianjin Xingang shipyard has previously focused on building mainstream vessel types such as bulk carriers. With Deltamarin’s assistance, the yard managed to secure this newbuilding contract of a more sophisticated vessel type. The yard is also currently building 10 bulk carriers of Deltamarin’s B.Delta37 design: four vessels for French Louis Dreyfus Armateurs and six vessels for the US-based M.T. Maritime Management Group.

Doen Pacific Enters into Joint License Agreement

Doen Pacific as one of only 5 marine waterjet manufacturers in the world matching engines to 4,000kW, and CSIC, one of the two largest shipbuilding conglomerates in China, together with its Member WMMP, have jointly signed a license agreement for the manufacture and sale of WMMP‐DOEN Waterjets in China. The signing ceremony took place on October 29, in Wuhan, China, and was attended by representatives of each company, headed by Mr. He Jiwu, Board Chairman and President ‐ Wuhan Marine Machinery Plant; Mr. Wu Jing, Vice‐Executive General Manager ‐ China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co. Ltd, as the Technology Import channel for CSIC; Mr. Mark Peters, Director ‐ Doen Pacific Pty. Ltd; and Mr. Timothy Udvary, Director and Chief Engineer ‐ Doen Pacific Pty. Ltd.

Genset Delivery Sparks Chinese Celebration

SXD-produced 32/40 gensets to provide power to CNOOC offshore platform Representatives from China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), classification societies, local government officials and MAN Diesel & Turbo gathered on 18 November to celebrate the delivery of two 12V32/40 gensets, constructed by MAN Diesel & Turbo licensee, Shaanxi Diesel Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (SXD). The new engines will replace older models aboard ‘Liuhua 11-1’, a working, offshore hydrocarbon platform operated by CNOOC. SXD is a company of the northern Chinese CSIC Group of state-owned factories and shipyards.

Deltamarin Snags Bulk Carrier Design Deal

Deltamarin has signed an agreement with Tianjin Xingang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., part of CSIC Group for the design of four very low fuel consumption Handysize Bulk Carriers to be built for M.T. Maritime Management Group / Strategic Shipping Inc. Deltamarin will take care of the Basic and Detail designs of the vessels as well as of Technical Procurement handling. Deltamarin will also have a site team to take the design to production. This is the second order for the B.Delta37 standard bulk carriers, which have evoked the interest of the market with their improved deadweight, cubic capacity and especially the extremely low fuel consumption compared to other available designs. The overall vessel length will be below 180 x 30m, with a service speed at design draft of 14 knots.
