Today at the SMM trade fair in Hamburg, DNV GL presented Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) with an Approval in Principle (AIP) recognizing the technical feasibility of the new Con-Green 2000 vessel design under the new DNV GL rules. The Con-Green 2000 project brought together partners HMD, MAN Diesel & Turbo, Becker Marine Systems and DNV GL to develop a highly efficient, reliable and economic feeder design. Feeder vessels are the unsung heroes of the container market and have become increasingly important in a world of 18,000, 19,000 and even 20,000 TEU giant ultra large container ships.

The 208,000 DWT Bulk Carrier Linda Oldendorff built at Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI) was delivered to Oldendorff in Germany on September 30, 2014. It is the first in a series of six. The vessel has flush deck with forecastle, bulbous bow, transom stern, single rudder (full-spade) and single screw propeller directly driven by a slow speed diesel engine. It measures 300 x 50 x 25m, with a 16-m draft. The vessel has nine cargo holds and was constructed as single hull with hopper sided double bottom and topside wing.

Ecoships, the technical shipmanagement arm of Newport Shipping Group, has introduced a next generation bulk carrier design, developed to set the standard in ecologically compatible marine transportation. Inspired by the low friction to water flow and self-cleaning properties of the lotus flower – a symbol of purity and beauty in Buddhist and Hindu philosophy –  Ecoships’ Greenlotus 32, is a 32,500dwt geared, wide hatched, handy-size bulker, designed to meet existing and future CO2 (carbon dioxide) NOx (oxides of nitrogen) and SOx (oxides of sulphur) emissions regulations.

Deltamarin announced that so far a total of 103 B.Deltas and derivates have been ordered by several world-known shipowners at nine Chinese shipyards. The latest addition is the order of eight open hatch B.Delta37 bulk carriers by Polish shipowner, Polska Zegluga Morska P.P. (Polsteam), at Yangfan Group shipyard. Nor-Shipping announced the nominees for the 2013 Nor-Shipping Awards which recognize achievements in three different areas – energy efficiency, innovative ship design and young entrepreneurship. HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway will present the awards when they are announced at the Opening Conference on June 4. The Energy Efficiency Award (previously Clean Ship Award) pays tribute to the ship with the greatest contribution towards energy efficiency in relation to its function or operation.

The latest additions are for a series of three firm ships plus options of B.Delta37 design as open hatch general cargo ship, which will be built at the Chinese CSC Jinling Shipyard. This will bring the number of firm B.Delta37 newbuilding orders to 21 units and the total number of newbuilding orders of different types of B.Delta designs to 38 for various shipowners. These about 38,300 tdw general cargo carriers have been ordered by the German shipowner Oldendorff Carriers GmbH & Co. The design is an amended version of the standard B.Delta37 design into an open hatch configuration. It features 40 tons SWL electro-hydraulic cranes, ice class 1C and is fully logsfitted. Cargo capacity 48,500 cu. Deadweight 38,300 metric tons at 10.5 m scantling draught.

Ltd has joined an elite group of ship operators who have certified their systems and processes against the ISO 50001 standard, demonstrating the employment of best practice for efficient energy use and conservation throughout their fleet.

Deltamarin said that it entered into a contract with CSSC/Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard Co. Ltd. (China) for the design of B.Delta25 bulk carriers, the first contract for the 28,000 dwt bulk carrier. Deltamarin will procure the Basic Design, part of the Detail Design and the Technical Procurement handling, and will also have a site team to ensure the continuity all along the design phases to production. Length, o.a. The design is a single hull bulk carrier with shallow draft and good maneuvering capabilities intended for operation in restricted water depths, and very low fuel consumption, which has been the focus of Deltamarin in the design.

Deltamarin has entered into a new contract with Yangfan Group (China) for the design of B.Delta37 Bulk Carriers to be built for d'Amico Societa di Navigazione S.p.A. who placed orders with the Chinese builder for a series of six fixed orders with options for six more vessels. Deltamarin will procure the basic sesign, part of the detail design of the vessels and technical procurement handling and will also have a site team to ensure the continuity all along the design phases to the production. The design is an amended version of the standard B.Delta37 design into an open hatch configuration.

The new orders are the first B. Delta 37 bulk carriers to be built at Chengxi shipyard and have been specifically amended to take into account specific requirements of China Navigation. Tianjin Xingang Shipbuilding Heavy Industries Co. is currently building other B. Delta 37 handy-size bulk carriers for Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA) and M.T.M. Ship Management Pte Ltd. / Strategic Shipping Inc. and additional shipbuilding contracts are expected to be signed within a few months. •    Length over all 180 m. •    Beam 30 m. •    Scantling draft 10.50 m. •    Deadweight 39,500 metric tonnes. •    Cargo cubic 48,500 m3. Deltamarin has signed an agreement with Tianjin Xingang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., part of CSIC Group for the design of four very low fuel consumption Handysize Bulk Carriers to be built for M.T. Maritime Management Group / Strategic Shipping Inc. Deltamarin will take care of the Basic and Detail designs of the vessels as well as of Technical Procurement handling. Deltamarin will also have a site team to take the design to production. This is the second order for the B.Delta37 standard bulk carriers, which have evoked the interest of the market with their improved deadweight, cubic capacity and especially the extremely low fuel consumption compared to other available designs. The overall vessel length will be below 180 x 30m, with a service speed at design draft of 14 knots.

This is the first order for the B.delta37 standard bulk carriers, which have evoked the interest of the market with their improved cubic capacity and especially the extremely low fuel consumption compared to other available designs. The overall vessel length will be below 180 m and the beam 30 m. The service speed at design draft is 14 knots.
