Bay Diesel Announces Leadership Change

For the first time since its inception in 1982, Bay Diesel has a new president. As voted by their Board of Directors in October 2020, the Senior VP of Sales Willard “Rob” Robins has taken on the role of President, with Scott Wheeler, founder and current president, transferring to a new position as the Chief Executive Officer.This transition has been 17 years in the making. Rob Robins joined Bay Diesel in July of 2003 as a Sales Engineer, having graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1994 from UVA. Now, he is a certified instructor through the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Neptune Pacific Acquires Pacific Direct

Neptune Pacific Line, the provider of ocean freight services between Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, said that it has acquired Pacific Direct Line(PDL) from its Singapore based parent holding company, Pacific International Lines (PIL).The acquisition makes Neptune the new owners of all of PDL’s regional and Fiji based companies. The combined business will seamlessly link transport, warehousing, depots and customs clearance services and fully integrate customers’ supply chains across 18 South Pacific markets, it said in a press note."This purchase supports our long-term vision of creating the strongest and best regional network of shipping and logistics services in the Pacific Islands…

A solution providing dedicated road and railway lines, efficient terminal operations, world-class marine infrastructure, customer-centric approach, cost effective services was of utmost requirement to the Southern Andhra Pradesh, Eastern Karnataka, and Northern Tamil Nadu hinterland. These facilities define Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal (KPCT). With such advantages, new Container line services are commencing from KPCT. Maersk Line, a  shipping liner company, made its maiden call at KPCT on January 29, 2013.

Cruise Ship Fuji Maru Assists in Iwate Prefecture

TOKYO — Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President: Koichi Muto) today reports that its ocean cruise ship Fuji Maru has provided free day-use services such as meals, baths, and rest for victims of the Tohoku–Pacific Ocean Earthquake at ports in Iwate Prefecture. About 1,000 people in Ofunato and Rikuzen-takata cities took advantage of the service at Ofunato port on April 11 and 12, and about 300 people at Kamaishi port on April 13. On the evening of April 11, the Fuji Maru received an expression of thanks from the city of Ofunato, delivered by Mayor Komei Toda.

MOL Establishes New Panama Vessel Operation Center

MOL hosted a party to celebrate the grand opening of its new Panama Vessel Operation Center in Panama City, Panama on December 9, 2003. Some of the guests in attendance included: Mr. Joaquin Jacome, Minister of Commerce; Mr. Jerry Salazar, Minister of Canal Affairs; and Mr. Shuji Shimokoji, Ambassador of Japan. Considering Panama to be one of the world’s key maritime centers, the company established MOL (Panama) Inc. in May 2003, which is responsible for handling all commercial activities for MOL’s liner division in Panama. The responsibilities of MOL (Panama) Inc. were increased last month when it was named a regional office in charge of managing the activities of MOL’s Caribbean and Central America shipping agents.
