(MHI) signed an agreement with Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in Imabari, Ehime Prefecture, Japan, under which MHI licenses production and marketing of deck machinery. MacGregor Equipment Package for Chinese Bulkers
MacGregor informs it has secured an order to supply MacGregor equipment packages for two 38,000 dwt bulk carriers in China. The order was booked into second quarter order intake and includes following equipment/ship: design and key components for hatch covers, deck cranes, electric deck machinery, steering gear and air compressor. "Customers can benefit from MacGregor's extended portfolio, which now includes deck machinery, steering gear and air compressors from our Hatlapa range," said Sönke Tanz, Area Sales Manager, Auxiliary and Machinery Systems at MacGregor.
Rapp Marine Equips Pelagic Fleet Trawlers
Rapp Marine has received two new orders for the supply of complete electrical deck machinery packages for the two pelagic trawlers, Rockall and Themis, announced Morten Stenkjær, VP Sales Fisheries Rapp Marine. Rapp Marine signed the contract in March 2016 with the shipbuilder Karstensens Skibsværft in Skagen, Denmark, for these two newbuildings. Astrid Fiskeri AS in Skagen owns Rockall, while Themis is owned by Themis Fiskeri AS in Thyborøn. Rockall will be to fully outfitted with deck machinery suitable for twin trawl fisheries.
Rolls-Royce to Equip Five New Cruise Ships
Rolls-Royce has announced a new deal to provide propulsion and deck machinery to five cruise ships being built by Fincantieri at their Monfalcone and Ancona Shipyards in Italy. The firm orders are to supply a Promas system, deck machinery and steering gear to two vessels being built for Viking Ocean Cruises. The contract also covers steering gear and deck machinery for a further vessel under construction for Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Steering gear is also being provided for two vessels being built for Princess.

MacGREGOR Plimsoll Wins $7.27M Order
At the end of October, Niigata Shipbuilding & Repair Inc. in Japan ordered five shipsets of deck machinery to be installed on 70m-long offshore anchor-handling tug/supply (AHTS) vessels being built for a Japanese owner. Three shipsets of equipment will be delivered in 2008, and the other two in 2009, and the total contract value is approximately $7.27m. Each deck machinery package features MacGREGOR Plimsoll-designed electro-hydraulic drive main winches, with a 200-tonne line pull and 300-tonne brake holding power. Also included are a service crane, a 300 tonnes SWL sharkjaw towpin, and a newly designed stern roller which uses a taper roller bearing instead of the conventional bush bearing type.
MacGregor's Deck Machinery for Sentinel Marine ERRV
MacGregor, part of Cargotec, will supply deck machinery for a new 65m emergency rescue & response vessel (ERRV) for Sentinel Marine. The ship has been designed by Focal Marine & Offshore Pte Ltd and will have a bollard pull of 100 tonnes of FOCAL 552. The order for the complete MacGregor anchor handling solution was booked into the third quarter 2015 order intake. MacGregor will supply a complete deck machinery package including a 200-tonne line pull / 300-tonne brake holding anchor handling towing winch, complete with a hydraulic spooling device, as well as Triplex shark jaws and guide pins.
MacGregor Secures Deck Machinery Orders from Sinopacific
MacGregor has signed a new series of deck machinery orders for 12 vessels with the China-based Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group. This builds on a track-record of contracts that now stands at 150 shipsets of equipment successfully delivered and installed at Sinopacific yards. The orders were booked into the third quarter 2014 order intake. (MHI) has signed an agreement with Jiangsu Masada Heavy Industries Co Ltd., in Jiangsu Province, China, under which MHI is to license production and marketing of steering gears and deck machinery, based on company technology to Jiangsu Masada. Rolls-Royce Engines, Equipment for Bourbon
Rolls-Royce is to deliver deck machinery and engines to an arctic Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessel (AHTS) to be built by Vard for Bourbon Offshore Norway. The contract has a value in excess of £17 million for Rolls-Royce. The deck machinery delivery from Rolls-Royce will consist of anchor handling winches, secondary winches, auxiliary winches, anchor handling cranes and a wide range of safer deck operation equipment. The engine delivery consists of two main engines and three main generator engines. AHTS vessels are built to handle anchors for oil rigs and perform rig moves.
Rolls-Royce Secures Deck Machinery Contract
Rolls-Royce is to deliver an extensive package of advanced deck machinery to six new high-end anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTS) to be built by Kleven in Norway for the Danish ship owner Maersk Supply Service. The contract with Kleven is worth in excess of £54m to Rolls-Royce, and includes an option for an additional four vessels. This represents the largest single contract for deck machinery that Rolls-Royce has won. The 95m long vessels are designed by Salt Ship Design, and will be built at Kleven's two shipyards in Norway: Kleven Verft and Myklebust Verft.
First US-built Rotortug Enters Service
The first U.S.-built Rotortug, ART Trident, has undergone trials and is now in service. Designed by Robert Allan Ltd., and designated as an ART 80-98US, she was built by Master Boat Builders in Bayou La Batre, Ala., and is the first in a series of three being constructed for Seabulk Towing of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The ART (Advanced Rotortug) designation applies to Robert Allan Ltd. designed tugs featuring the triple Z-drive configuration, originally conceived and developed by Rotortug (KST) B.V. of the Netherlands.
Palfinger Adds Winch Line with NDM Acquisition
Palfinger Marine has expanded its product portfolio with the acquisition of Norwegian Deck Machinery AS (NDM), stating NDM’s position within the design and development of deck winches and handling equipment for the oil and gas as well as the marine market will be an important factor for the company’s future strategy. Cargotec Bags Daewoo's Deck Machinery Order
MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has signed a major contract with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd in South Korea to supply a range of Hatlapa deck machinery for ten 172,600m3 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers. MacGregor will deliver electrically-driven deck machinery, windlasses and mooring winches, all optimised for operations in very low temperatures. Delivery is planned to start in 2017 and continue into 2018. Ulstein Brattvaag Awarded Supply Of Deck Machinery
Ulstein Brattvaag has landed contracts totaling $2 million by two of Japan's largest shipbuilders for the supply of deck machinery for a pair of LNG carriers. The agreement also allows for options for corresponding equipment for two more LNG tankers, thus allowing the contract to double in value. Construction of the series of 135,000 cu. m. LNG carriers for the Malaysian State company Petronas tankers has been placed with two Japanese shipyards: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Mitsui Engineering. The contract calls for Ulstein to supply a full set of low-pressure hydraulic deck winches for each LNG carrier, comprising two Brattvaag combined windlasses and mooring winches forward.
TTS Lands Record PCTC RoRo Contract
TTS has signed a contract with ship management firm Höegh Fleet Services to provide maintenance for 29 vessels. The deal is believed to be the biggest ever service contract for pure car/truck carrier (PCTC) RoRo equipment. The contract was signed in Oslo in late September 2007 by Höegh vice-president of purchasing Kristin Haugen and Dan Magnusson, TTS Ships Equipment’s service manager, and comes into effect January 1 2008. The contract, agreed by TTS’ Gothenburg office, provides for an extended maintenance agreement for the ships, and follows TTS’ successful design and supply of cargo access equipment for a series of PCTCs built for Höegh by Hyundai Heavy Industry, Gdynia Shipyard, Daewoo and Uljanic. Other ships are currently on order from Vinashin in Vietnam.
ALP Tugs Get Rolls-Royce Deck Equipment
Rolls-Royce won a $31.9m contract to deliver deck machinery for four ocean going tugs, designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions, for Dutch company ALP Maritime Services. The vessels will be constructed in Japan by Niigata Shipbuilding & Repair. The vessels are being developed for towing large structures like oil rigs and floating production units over long distances. The bollard pull for each of the four vessels will be 300 tons and they will be equipped for anchor handling. The deck machinery include a complete low pressure winch solution and a stern roller.
Rolls-Royce Wins Sinopacific Contract
Rolls-Royce has signed a contract with Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group (Sinopacific) in Shanghai for a package of power and propulsion equipment and deck machinery. The contract is to equip nine SPA80A Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels to be designed and built by Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group and owned and operated by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and its wholly-owned subsidiary, ESNAAD. Each ship will have a bollard pull of 80 metric tons, and be equipped with Bergen diesel engines, main and tunnel thrusters, electrical power system and a deck machinery package from Rolls-Royce.
MacGregor's Pusnes Deck Machinery for Vale's New VLOCs
MacGregor has won Pusnes deck machinery orders for a new series of 400,000 dwt very large ore carriers (VLOCs) under construction at Chinese shipyard, Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industries. The orders are booked in Cargotec's 2016 third quarter order intake. MacGregor will deliver high-pressure hydraulically-operated deck machinery based on Pusnes designs. HATLAPA Acquires Triplex AS, Extends Portfolio
Hamburg-based manufacturer HATLAPA Marine Equipment has purchased a majority shareholding in the Norwegian deck machinery company Triplex AS. In doing so HATLAPA’s traditional product portfolio of compressors, steering gear and winches has now been significantly expanded to include all components of a typical deck machinery package for supply vessels and AHTs. With oil and gas exploration and production taking place in deeper and deeper waters the requirements of support vessels is developing significantly and with it the need for more sophisticated and automated equipment.
