ABB's RDS Update Brings Predictive Capabilities of Big Data

ABB is deepening its analytical and predictive approach to vessel maintenance with the latest upgrade of its Remote Diagnostic Service (RDS). ABB is one of the leading advocates of the digitalization of shipping and has already launched Integrated Operation Centers in Asia, Europe and the USA where data produced by ships is received and monitored. The upgraded software functionalities will give more power and transparency to the shore side operations of ship owners whilst ABB has stepped up its proactive monitoring of the data and predictive analytics.

Simulation Complex for Paraguay Waterway Training

The Transas navigational simulator Navi-Trainer Professional 5000 was installed at the Center for Maritime and River Shipowners (CAFyM) in Asuncion for training crews in tugs operations in the Parana-Paraguay Waterway. The project was carried out in conjunction with VTG S.R.L., the Transas' local representative, which is covering commercial and technical needs of the Paraguayan market for all Transas products. The NTPRO version 5.35 installed at the CAFyM center is an excellent training solution due to its new capabilities for operation with different types of boats and barges in river waters.

Transas Upgrades Simulator Complex in Batumi

On November 27, 2014, President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili and President of Latvia Andris Berzins visited Batumi State Maritime Academy (BSMA) opened the renovated simulation center. The Full Mission Offshore simulator, which has become the extension of the existing simulation complex, has been developed and installed by the Transas Marine. The full mission Transas offshore simulator with 270 degrees visualization is based on the Transas NTPRO 5000 software and will be used for training in dynamic positioning operations.

Transas Offshore Simulator for Batumi State Maritime Academy

Batumi State Maritime Academy (BSMA) and Transas Marine Black Sea today signed a contract for supply and installation of the Transas Full Mission Offshore simulator. The simulator complex will be one of the most advanced in the Black Sea region. The full mission Transas offshore simulator with 270 degrees visualisation is based on the Transas NTPRO 5000 software and will be used for training in dynamic positioning operations. The simulator will enable training of crews involved in transfer and supply of mobile offshore units. Training course will be accredited by the Nautical Institute. Specially for the project, Transas will develop simulator areas for three ports of Georgia: Batumi, Poti and Kulevi. In addition, the simulator will use the next generation universal hardware solutions.

At the end of May 2014, Batumi State Maritime Academy (BSMA) and Transas Marine Black Sea signed a contract for supply and installation of the Transas Full Mission Offshore simulator. The simulator complex will be one of the most advanced in the Black Sea region. The full mission Transas offshore simulator with 270 degrees visualization is based on the Transas NTPRO 5000 software and will be used for training in dynamic positioning operations. The simulator will enable training of crews involved in transfer and supply of mobile offshore units.

Transas Simulators for Girne American University

Transas has completed a project to supply the navigational and GMDSS simulators to Girne American University (GAU), a high school in Northern Cyprus. The configuration includes two navigational bridges based on the latest Transas Navi-Trainer Professional (NTPRO) software. The main bridge with five projector visualization channels is equipped with reduced set of dedicated hardware controls. It will enable training in various shiphandling operations including bridge team management. Secondary bridge with one visualization channel will be used for familiarization and basic tasks.

Raytheon Anschütz Supplies Nor Lines ECDISRetrofit

Raytheon Anschütz was awarded a contract for the supply of ECDIS 24 to a significant retrofit program of Norwegian shipowner Nor Lines. ECDIS 24 is a particular designed retrofit version of the well-known Raytheon Anschütz ECDIS. Under the contract, Nor Lines has ordered ten ECDIS 24 systems for installations on board of five ships, with MV Cometa being the first vessel to be refitted. All five shipsets will be supplied and commissioned by Raytheon Anschütz’ Norwegian distributor Syberg AS.

Transas Simulators for Intership Navigation

Transas Marine, Hamburg (Germany), has been awarded the contract for two simulation systems that will be delivered and installed onboard two ships operated and owned by shipping company Intership Navigation Co. Ltd. (ISN). The K Class Capesize Bulk Carriers MV Lancelot and MV Percival with a capacity of 178.000 dwt each are currently being built at New Times Shipyard in Jing Jiang, China. The vessels are most energy efficient and equipped with unique propulsion aids. The Transas scope of supply comprises the software for an Engine Room Simulator (ERS 4000) and the software plus dedicated hardware for a Navi-Trainer Professional 5000 ship handling simulator.

Le Havre Utilizes Transas Simulator

Pilotage Maritimes du Havre, the famous French pilot station, has chosen a Transas bridge simulator to be used for training professional seafarers at their premises. The contract for supplying and installing the simulator, as well as for dedicated Instructor training, has been secured by Transas Europe GmbH, the official representative of the Transas Group in Western Europe, in close cooperation with Electronic Equipment S.A., their local partner in France. Transas has commercially launched the latest version of its Engine Room Simulator, ERS 4000. The new simulator is enhanced with a number of new significant capabilities aimed at satisfying the increasing demands of users of this kind of simulation product. The modified ERS 4000 simulator features a modern design for the dedicated hardware set with new control panels, and some essential improvements have been made to the simulator’s functionality. One of these is the new configuration for the Electric Power Plant, which now includes Steam Turbo-generator and the updated Steam Plant.

The modified ERS 4000 simulator features a modern design for the dedicated hardware set with new control panels, and some essential improvements have been made to the simulator's functionality. One of these is the new configuration for the Electric Power Plant, which now includes Steam Turbo-generator and the updated Steam Plant. The accurate mathematical ship models incorporated in the simulator have been improved and extended by the new vessel types, Tanker LCC and Trawler.

Navi-Trainer 4000 Installed in Tenerife

Transas Europe GmbH has successfully commissioned a Navi-Trainer 4000 Fishing Simulation System combined with TGS 4100 GMDSS Simulation System and ERS 4000 Simulation System at Tenerife, Spain. This procurement provides the largest simulator on the island of Tenerife. The new simulator, installed at Instituto de Formacion Maritimo Pesquero de Tenerife, includes one GMDSS instructor station and eight trainee stations, as well as one navigational instructor station with one main bridge. The main bridge comprises three-channel visualization, plus numerous dedicated hardware and software modules for items such as Navaids, Complete Fishing Station, Conning Display, ECDIS and a GMDSS Station.

Transas GMDSS Simulator Receives Type-Approval

In February 2002, The Russian Maritime Administration of the Ministry of Transport issued a type-approval certificate for the new GMDSS simulator from Transas, TGS4100, which the company had commercially launched in the beginning of the year. The range of the certified GMDSS equipment incorporated into the TGS4100 simulator, includes new Transas dedicated hardware consisting of the TGS4000 Console with SAILOR panels of VHF&DSC RT4822, MF/HF&DSC HC4500, Inmarsat-C H2095C and Battery Panel BP4680 and a separate Alarm Panel AP4365. In addition, the simulator is provided with Jotron’s VHF radio station, Tron Air for communication with aircraft and Cospas-Sarsat EPIRB E3 from McMurdo. The simulator network comprises an Instructor station and up to 16 interactive Trainee workstations.

Latest Developments in Engine Room Simulators

Transas Marine has released a new simulator product, which is a stand-alone Engine Room simulator, ERS Solo. This simulator broadens the company's existing product range of Engine Room simulators, which includes the PC-based ERS 2000 and the ERS 3000, which is fitted with real engine control room panels for monitoring and control of engine room machinery. The ERS Solo possesses all the functionality of ERS 2000, other than its on-line Instructor functions. With the ERS Solo simulator, the Instructor-generated tasks are performed in off-line mode. The main simulated machinery includes the ship's diesel propulsion power plant, with models for two-stroke and four-stroke diesel engines, an electric power plant and a number of auxiliary systems.

Texas State Maritime Program (TAMUG) has selected the Buffalo Computer Graphics and Transas Marine USA team for the contract to replace their existing ship simulator. The new simulator complex will consist of a Transas Navi-Trainer Professional 3000 full mission ship simulator system with integrated GMDSS communications simulation capabilities, as well as full integration with the existing BCG PCS100 five-station ARPA/Radar simulator. Using Transas Marine's combination of simulation software, dedicated hardware (real ship controls) and commercial-off-the-shelf components, the simulator will be an ideal tool in the training and certification of United States Maritime Service Cadets.
