Two Ro-Pax Catamarans Under Construction in Indonesia for Abu Dhabi Ports

The Abu Dhabi Ports Group has commissioned Penguin Shipyard International and Incat Crowther to design and deliver two new 56-metre ro-pax catamaran passenger and vehicle ferries.The new vessels will be built by Penguin International in Indonesia and can transport up to 194 passengers and 25 vehicles.Replacing two older vessels in the Abu Dhabi Ports Group fleet, the new vessels will service Delma Island from Jebel Dhanna on the UAE mainland – a 42-kilometer route. Abu Dhabi Port Development Contract for Parsons

ADPC has awarded an AED 2.5million contract to Parsons, to manage the development of Delma Port in Al Gharbia or Western Region of the Abu Dhabi emirate. The development of Delma Port will include a 300-m concrete wharf designed for heavy loads and new floating pontoons to create a marina setting for more than 280 boats. The investment will also boost the existing facilities for local fishermen and improve the provision for water sports, as well as supporting ferry services and other public amenities.
