Gotlandsbolaget Unveils Hydrogen-powered Catamaran Ferry
Swedish company Gotlandsbolaget has unveiled the Gotland Hydrocat concept vessel, said to be the world's first large-scale, high-speed catamaran with fossil-free hydrogen propulsion.Slated to enter service in 2030, the high-speed vessel will operate between Gotland and the Swedish mainland, reducing crossing times to under three hours.The vessel is the second vessel in Gotlandsbolaget's Horizon series of high-speed passenger and cargo vessels, launched as a concept model in 2021 with the Gotland Horizon.
LNG Bunkering: World's Largest Starts Ops

Interferry to Unveil Approach on Alternative Fuels
A ferry operatorâs experience of âthe fastest ship in the worldâ will feature among the cutting-edge initiatives being aired at Interferryâs 38th annual conference in Malta from October 5-9. The trade association event gives South American operator Buquebus a first opportunity to showcase the commercial and technical benefits of its revolutionary newbuild Francisco. Delivered in August from Australian builder Incat Tasmania, the catamaran is the worldâs first high speed dual fuel ro-ro to use LNG as its primary fuel. Incat made the âfastest shipâ claim after sea trials in June.
SIS Secures Contract With Destination Gotland
Star Information Systems (SIS), a provider of integrated fleet management software, has secured a further contract with Destination Gotland for the supply of software systems onboard the company's two Ropax newbuildings. The contract comes shortly after the Swedish shipping company upgraded four of its five vessels with fleet management software from SIS.
