Senergy Software Pioneers Another Step Change

Senergy Software has unveiled major new developments to its market-leading Oilfield Data Manager (ODMTM) software suite, providing geoscientists with significant step changes particularly in the user interface (UI). NSRP Approves $1.4m in Shipbuilding Program Funds

As part of the National Shipbuilding Research Program’s (NSRP) core mission to reduce the costs associated with Navy shipbuilding and repair, the NSRP Executive Control Board has selected 15 new research and development projects for award, totaling approximately $1.4M. The NSRP Executive Control Board allocates funds on an approximately annual basis to fund a portfolio of relatively small, short timeframe projects - one year or less, $100K or less. The Project Portfolio contains summary information on all current and completed NSRP projects. Chouest Vessel Rescues 3 From GOM Waters

Three fishermen from Orange Beach, Ala. were rescued early Thursday morning from the frigid waters of the Gulf of Mexico, after their 46 ft. Bertram sportsfishing vessel sunk for unknown reasons. Temperatures were well below freezing, but luckily for the men C-CHARIOT, a 220-ft. offshore supply vessel owned and operated by Edison Chouest Offshore, happened to be located only a mile from their location when disaster struck. According to David Kent, the captain of the fishing vessel Cat Man Dex, a favorable weather report prompted their late night fishing expedition. At approximately 12:59 am, their engine room began to take on water for unknown reasons.

Brown Appointed as Asia Pacific Regional Director for U.K. P&I Club

Christopher Brown has been appointed Asia Pacific Regional Director of the UK P&I Club from October 1st. He will also be responsible for providing services to all Thomas Miller’s managed Clubs, particularly UK P&I, TT, UK Defence, ITIC and the Lloyd’s insurer Dex. Based in Hong Kong, Brown will head Miller’s regional management team, leading the offices in the region and supported by experienced managers Nick Sansom in Singapore and Barton Phillips in Sydney. He succeeds Colin Lewin who is moving to London as Chief Operating Officer of the TT Club. He will work closely with Andreas Mueller, who succeeds Mr Lewin as TT’s Regional Manager for Asia Pacific. Brown joined Miller’s in London in August 2001, with the intention of moving to Hong Kong this year.

State of the P&I Market: As Stocks Drop, Rates Will Rise

The 13 P&I Clubs within the International Group continue to dominate the world market for shipowners' liability insurance despite increasing competition in recent years from fixed premium facilities. The development of the fixed premium market and, in particular, the rapid growth of the P&I account of the marine and energy syndicate 329 at Lloyd's led by Jonathan Jones, served to increase pressure on premium rating in recent years. However, syndicate 329 is now in run-off, its capital providers having withdrawn support, and its P&I account, which was transferred to British Marine, an old-established P&I and hull club for small ships and offshore craft…
