Paragon Announces Early Charter Termination

Paragon Shipping Inc. announced that Deiulemar Compagnia di Navigazione SpA, the charterer of the M/V Friendly Seas (the "Vessel"), a 2008-built 58,779 dwt Supramax bulkcarrier (the "Charterer"), has continued to fail to provide payment due since January 5 and has failed to provide the Vessel with voyage instructions. Accordingly, Paragon Shipping has provided written notice to the Charterer of the termination of the charter, but has received no response. Recognition for Lloyd Triestino

The Italian container shipping line Lloyd Triestino di Navigazione SpA has taken a major step forward in gearing itself for further expansion. Its management and operational standards have been approved as conforming to the international quality management system standard ISO 9001:2000. The standard, introduced at the end of last year, is designed to ensure that companies focus their management systems on meeting the needs and service requirements of their customers. The assessment, which was conducted by Det Norske Veritas, specifically relates to Lloyd Triestino?s business as a provider of intermodal liner services with full container vessels. The formal presentation of the certificate took place in Trieste at the company"s headquarters on September 25.

Lloyd Triestino and CMA CGM to Co-operate on the Transpacific

Italian carrier Lloyd Triestino di Navigazione SpA and the French line CMA CGM have agreed on a joint cooperative agreement in the transpacific trade. This agreement, which is still subject to approval by the relevant governmental authorities, will consist of an exchange of slots between the TPX service of CMA CGM and the CPN/CPS loops of the China-West Coast North America service of LT. It will also enable both carriers to upgrade services for customers without adding to the capacity already offered on transpacific trades. Approvals are expected within early May after which each carrier will take 200 TEU on each other's service each week both eastbound and westbound.

Bottiglieri Group Reorganizes

The Bottiglieri group companies, Bottiglieri di Navigazione Spa, Bottigkieri Tankers Spa, Navimar Srl and Finship Srl have announced an internal reorganization. Grazia Bottiglieri becomes president of Bottiglieri di Navigazione Spa with Michele Bottiglieri as vice president and Giuseppe Mauro Rizzo and Orsola Bottiglieri as managing directors. Bottiglieri di Navigazione is owned bty the families of Roberto Rizzo, Grazia Bottiglieri, Ugo De Carlini, Orsola Bottiglieri, Michele Bottiglieri and Rosaria Savastano. A newco Giuseppe Bottiglieri di Navigazione Spa is owned by the families of Giuseppe Bottiglieri and Gaetano Cozzolino with Giuseppe Bottiglieri as president and Gaetano Cozzolino and Mariella Bottiglieri as managing directors.

Giuseppe Bottiglieri Buys Two Bulk Carriers

Giuseppe Bottiglieri purchased two more newbuildings at Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Yangzijiang. The President of Giuseppe Bottiglieri di Navigazione SpA shipowning company said that the two bulkcarriers are sister vessels of the six Post Panamax (92.500 dwt) ordered last January. According to the company, in an effort to build the company’s modern fleet of bulk carriers, this $100m investment in the dry cargo sector comes after an order that was placed in January.

Confitarma and Jiangsu Yards Sign Contract

A group of Naples ship owners have come to an agreement with the Chinese yard Jiangsu New Yanagzijang Construction Co. for the building of 16 90,000 ton bulk carriers. Nicola Coccia Confitarma president with a group of Naples ship-owners and representatives of the Chinese yard signed the agreement on June 20. The order was placed by Perseveranza di navigazione,d’Amato di navigazione spa, Gestioni Amatoriali spa, la Giuseppe Bottiglieri di navigazione spa e Liberty Marittime International who thus become de facto partners in the Chinese yard. Promotor of the deal was Confitarma president Nicola Coccia who was able to bring together the needs of a number of owners in a single yard an unusual fact for shipowners but producing an excellent price.

Italia Marittima SpA Introduced

P L Maneschi, Chairman of Lloyd Triestino di Navigazione SpA, has announced that with effect from 1March 1, the name of the shipping company will be changed to Italia Marittima SpA and will be known by the acronym ITS. Mr Maneschi said the new name Italia Marittima SpA reflects the company's ambitions to strengthen its Italian national identity worldwide whilst recognising almost 170 years' presence of Lloyd Triestino in the international shipping market. At the time the shipping company was established, on 2 August 1836 , Trieste and the port were part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire and the original name of the company was Oesterreicher Lloyd. On 3 January 1919 , shortly after World War I, the name changed to Lloyd Triestino.

Evergreen Italy SpA to represent the Evergreen Group in Italy

The Evergreen Group has established a new liner agency company in Italy, Evergreen Italy SpA, as a joint venture with the company's long-standing partner and agent, Greensisam SpA.
