The Port Logistics Challenges of Offshore Wind

Chinese Port Doubles Direct Connection with Europe

The deep water port on the shore of the Pearl river (aka Zhujiang River), in the Nansha District in the Southern China, Port of Nansha doubled direct connection with North Europe and West Africa.The first navigation ceremony was held at the dock site on  July 28, as the first sailing of Elly Maersk in port of Nansha marked a new upgrade of AE7/CONDOR of 2M alliance from Asia to Europe.On this service 2M alliance deploy 12 vessels of 14 to 18 thousand TEU, calling Nansha on every Sunday. Work on Green Port Hull Alexandra Dock Underway

Construction work on the Green Port Hull Alexandra Dock site is progressing well and is on schedule for an early 2017 completion, Associated British Ports (ABP) has announced. The 54-acre site, which ABP and its main contractor GRAHAM Lagan Construction Group Joint Venture (JV) are preparing for Siemens’ offshore wind turbine manufacturing facility, is being transformed in Hull’s biggest engineering project since the port was built. The enabling works undertaken by ABP and their contractors are worth £150 million. The dock infill has now been completed, with one million cubic metres of sand pumped into the dock to fill one third of the water area.

McAusland & Turner Choose HOTA's Albert Dock as Training Site

HOTA (Humberside Offshore Training Association Ltd) and McAusland & Turner Ltd have joined forces to create a bespoke Vessel Familiarization Course utilizing the facilities at HOTA’s Albert Dock site in Hull. Established in 1888, McAusland & Turner is the oldest Marine Surveying and Consulting firm in continuous operation in the Port of Hull. The company set up the three day Vessel Familiarization Course in 1994, with an aim of providing people working within the marine industry the opportunity to visit working vessels trading in today’s world. Throughout the 17-year course history, over 500 national and international delegates have attended training. McAusland & Turner approached HOTA in 2011 to discuss collaboration with the aim of adding realism to possible scenarios.

NSG Awarded Off-Shore Drilling Disposal Contract

CNH Holdings Company Inc. announced its wholly owned subsidiary NORM Service Group, Inc. has been awarded the contract through MI Drilling Fluids,a subsidiary of Smith International, to handle, transport and dispose of off-shore drilling fluids and cuttings from a major oil company rig off New Orleans. This scope of work will be handled through NORM's Kiva dock site located in Galveston Bay.
