Louisiana-based offshore support vessel owner Guice Offshore (GO) has expanded its fleet with three new vessels, including another 170 ft. DP1 multi-purpose vessel and two 205 ft. DP2 platform support vessels.The vessels will operate as GO Explorer (170 ft. DP1 MPSV), GO Crusader (205 ft. DP2 PSV), and GO Adventurer (205 ft. DP2 MPSV). A platform supply vessel (PSV) owned and operated by Wilson Sons UltraTug Offshore has been converted to a shallow dive support vessel (SDSV) for a Petrobras job offshore Brazil.The vessel, Fulmar, needed an upgrade from DP1 to DP2 Class notation, and the work was completed in April by Wilson Sons Estaleiros in partnership with Damen at the Wilson Sons shipyards in Guarujá.Damen said it carried out quick scan and later a feasibility study for the project before Wilson Sons had been awarded the contract.Daniel Pereira, Maintenance Manager said, “The project was not without its challenges.

UK-based ship repairers and marine engineering services provider SMS Group has secured two very important contracts with Trinity House."The culmination of many months work has seen the SMS team in Lowestoft secure both the refit of the Trinity House Vessel (THV) Alert and three publicly tendered ‘Lots’ with regards to mechanical and electrical maintenance," said a press release from the firm.James Grala, the General Manager of SMS Lowestoft, said “We’ve won both the mechanical repair, maintenance and service contracts for vessels located on the East Coast and the West Coast.“We’ve also won the electrical repair, maintenance and service contract for vessels on the East Coast. UK-based marine services company Stewart Marine has contracted Neptune Marine to build a new EuroCarrier 2611, which is to be named ‘Viking Energy’.To meet Stewart Marine’s operational requirements, Neptune will customise the 26-metre long workboat with a DP1 system.Stewart Marine is based in Fife, Scotland. It offers marine services to the offshore renewables industry around the world. Crowley Maritime Corp.’s offshore services group has delivered Shell’s Appomattox semi-submersible Floating Production System (FPS) to the open waters of the U.S. Gulf from Kiewit Offshore Services' construction facility in Ingleside, Texas.Making the tow-out possible were Crowley’s Ocean Sky and Ocean Sun tugboats, which worked together on behalf of customer Heerema, alongside other third-party assets to deliver Appomattox.Demonstrating both nearshore and offshore capabilities, the company’s ocean class tugs safely towed the FPS through the Aransas Channel, then disconnected and provided escort services to the deep-water installation site.

A new shallow-draft anchor-handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel has been delivered to Russian inland waterways operator and offshore logistics service provider, Ark Shipping. The AHTS Antarctic, designed by Offshore Ship Designers (OSD) in close cooperation with the owner, is partly based on the design of another OSD-designed ship, the Arctic, which was delivered to Ark Shipping in 2012. The DP1 vessel has a Bureau Veritas Ice Class Notation, and is fully equipped to operate in the Caspian Sea, where ice formation of around 80 cm during the winter period is not unusual.

Crowley Maritime Corp.’s ocean class tugboats and 455-series high-deck strength barges recently played an integral role in the tow-out and installation of Hess’ Stampede tension-leg platform (TLP) in the deep waters of the U.S. Gulf. Demonstrating both nearshore and offshore capabilities, six Crowley vessels worked together alongside other third-party assets to deliver the oversized, overweight platform, tendons and other equipment from the Kiewit facility in Ingleside, Texas, to the site of the Stampede floating production facility, about 150 miles offshore in 3,400 feet of water.

Damen has launched the first of a new vessel type, the Renewables Service Vessel (RSV) 3315, which has been developed in close cooperation with Scottish company Delta Marine. In December 2016 Damen Shipyards Group signed a contract with Norway-based VOLT Service AS for a Utility Vessel (UV) 4312 to be delivered in Q1 2018. The vessel, to be named VOLT Processor, will undertake delousing operations and other services at Norwegian salmon farms. Remøy Management AS has been involved in the development of the project and will perform the building supervision. Remøy Management will be the manager of the vessel when delivered. The UV 4312 follows on from Damen’s smaller model – the UV 2410.

The DP1 jack-up vessel Thor owned by the DEME Group has completed a short stay at Damen Shiprepair Dunkerque (DSDu). During her time at the yard her hull was repainted in the new DEME livery and her thrusters inspected. Measuring 70 metres by 40 metres, she spent four days in one of the yard’s drydocks. A special docking solution was required due to the size of her aft thrusters, which are 3.825 metres high. Standard dock blocks are just 1.80 metres. Fortunately, her design supplied the answer as well as the problem, and her four legs were used to maintain the hull at the height required to keep the thrusters clear of the dock bed while the inspection was conducted.

The first of the two 9,000 horsepower COSL deepwater supply vessel (PSV)built at the COSCO Dalian Shipyard ship has successfully completed sea trials. The trial results met the technical requirements to obtain the owner's praise. The total length of the ship 85.4 m, molded breadth of 20 meters, depth 8.6 m, draft of seven meters, safe operation in adverse sea conditions, and with good seakeeping trials. Trial process, completed DP1, DP2 state under measurement engineering, dynamic positioning system pre-commissioning and testing, FMEA power system failure analysis test, PMS tests and other routine tests, the indicators have reached the technical requirements. COSCO Dalian Shipyard was built with COSL series on the 2nd boat is currently in trial preparation phase.

Stanford Marine announced today from its Dubai headquarters that it has secured a three-year contract for one of its 87-meter Platform Supply Vessels (PSV), Stanford Bateleur, in Mexico. Stanford Bateleur was awarded a long term contract with Mexiship in Mexico. Before commencing her long term charter in Mexico, Stanford Bateleur will be in Dubai to undergo some project specific modifications. The Bateleur has been working on charter in Malaysia with Haliburton and in Qatar with Maersk Oil, since her delivery in early 2013.

Pemex, the end user, will operate the vessel as an “Injector Vessel” out of the port of Dos Bocas, in the state of Tabasco. The Bateleur will join her smaller sister vessel, the 58m DP1 Stanford Goshawk, which has been working out of the neighboring port of Cd. Del Carmen in Campeche for the last 12 months.

Stanford Marine, a regional offshore marine business, announced today from its Dubai headquarters the delivery of the latest addition to its fleet. Stanford Mustang, a 50m DP2 Anchor Handling Tug was specially designed to handle a specific charter in Qatar and was built at Fujian Mawei shipyard in Fuzhou, China. The vessel has a special low air draft to facilitate her ability to transit beneath the low bridges encountered at offshore facilities and has a Bollard Pull in excess of 60T, which makes her a valuable addition to the Stanford fleet.
