Kongsberg Kit for Italy's Submarine Rescue Ship

Chinese Shipbuilder Orders TMC Compressors

Chinese  heavy-duty equipment manufacturer Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) has contracted TMC Compressors of the Seas to supply a marine compressed air system for a new pipelay vessel.TMC will supply a major marine compressed air system consisting of 4 x working air compressors, 4 desiccant air dryers, 2 x instrument air compressors and desiccant air dryers, 4 x starting air compressors, 4 x high pressure compressors for the vessel’s tensioning system, plus 4 x high pressure air dryers. TMC has not disclosed the value of the contract.“As our scope of work suggests, this is a sizeable contract for us, for a large and impressive pipelay vessel.

Rolls-Royce Delivers Far Sleipner

Rolls-Royce would like to congratulate Farstad Shipping ASA for their recently named highly advanced subsea and construction vessel Far Sleipner. The event also marks the first delivery of a vessel equipped with the latest generation dynamic positioning system DP3 from Rolls-Royce. Designed and built by Vard (Vard 3 07), the vessel is equipped with Rolls-Royce bridge controls, DP3, engines and propulsion. Børge Nakken, Farstad Shipping, Vice President Technology & Development, said: “The DP3 positioning system onboard Far Sleipner ensures that the vessel stays in position, even in the event of an unforeseen situation, for instance if one out of two separate machinery systems fails.

COSCO Nantong Delivers Offshore Heavy Lift Vessel

COSCO (Nantong) Shipyard Co., says it has delivered the pipelay & heavy-lift vessel 'SapuraKencana 3500', to its Asian buyer. COSCO explains that the new vessel is designed to carry out multiple functions including oil piping processing, laying, installation and heavy lifting. Classed by ABS, it is capable of working in shallow water of up to 200 meters with a ten-point mooring system. The vessel is also equipped with a DP3 dynamic positioning system, which enables it to carry out heavy-lifting installation of large-scale offshore structures such as platform blocks, modules and jackets, as well as S-type pipe laying operations in water depths of up to 1,500 meters.

Offshore DP3 Propulsion Package Order for Wärtsilä

Wärtsilä say they have signed a repeat integrated solution order with the COSCO (Qidong) Offshore Co.Ltd shipyard covering another DP3 Dynamically Positioned offshore accommodation rig being built for Singapore based Axis Offshore. The Wärtsilä solution includes the main power generation system, the propulsion system, the electric and automation system, and the automation safety system. The vessel, which is expected to enter service in January 2016, will be equipped with a DP3 dynamic positioning system and will be available for worldwide operations.

Rolls-Royce to Supply DP3 Systems to New Farstad OCV's

Rolls-Royce says it has signed a contract with the shipyard group Vard for its latest DP3 dynamic positioning system to be installed on two new offshore construction vessels. The two vessels will be built at VARD Group, Langsten, Norway and delivered during the first half of 2015. Rolls-Royce will also supply engines, thrusters, propulsion systems, steering gears, and rudders. Rolls-Royce has already delivered many DP2 systems to VARD Group, across a range of ship designs. Rolls-Royce to Supply DP for New Farstad Vessels

Rolls-Royce has signed a contract with the shipyard group Vard for its latest DP3 dynamic positioning system to be installed on two new offshore construction vessels. DP systems with classification 3 are the most advanced defined by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and this is the first Rolls-Royce contract for DP3. Vessels constructed to DP3 standards are able to operate in very demanding situations where any loss of position has the potential to result in fatal accidents, severe pollution or damage with major economic consequences.

COSCO Nantong Shipyard to Build Semi-Sub Accommodation Rig

The Chinese shipyard, a subsidiary of COSCO Shipyard Group Co. Ltd., has secured a contract valued over US$ 200-million from Mexico's COTEMAR S.A. De C.V. The contract is to build a harsh environment semi-submersible accommodation vessel, which will be built to GustoMSC Ocean500 design and have capacity for 750 persons, a DP3 Dynamic Positioning system and is designed to operate in the Santos Basin, Gulf of Mexico and in the North Sea. COTEMAR S.A. De C.V.,has now exercised the first option unit awarded by COSCO. COTEMAR S.A. De C.V., was awarded altogether two options units in March 2012 when the 1st unit hull were contracted. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 24 months time.

China Shipyard Contracts For Wärtsilä DP3 Rig Package

Wärtsilä to provide integrated power, propulsion and positioning system for DP3 offshore accommodation rig for Singapore's Axis Offshore. The contract with Cosco (Qidong) Offshore is for the vessel to be equipped with a DP3 dynamic positioning system, and will feature an integrated Wärtsilä solution that includes the main power generation system, the propulsion system, the electric and automation system and the automation safety system. Wärtsilä is responsible for engineering, delivery and commissioning of the integrated solution and will also support the yard on-site during the installation phase. The vessel is expected to enter into service in February 2015 for worldwide operations. Wärtsilä will begin deliveries of its equipment in May 2013.

Frigstad Orders Ultra-deepwater Semi-submersibles

Subsidiaries of Frigstad Deepwater Ltd sign construction contracts for two ultra deepwater semi-submersible drilling units from CIMC Raffles in Yantai, China. The 7th generation drilling units are of the Frigstad D90™ design, developed by Frigstad Engineering and tailor made for safe and efficient exploration and development drilling in ultra-deep waters. The rigs will be capable of operating in water depths up to 12,000 feet and drilling to a total depth of 50,000 feet. The units will be outfitted with a DP3 dynamic positioning system, full dual activity hydraulic drilling package with 2 x 1,400 ST hoisting capacity and 2 x seven ram BOPs.

Semi-submersible Accommodation Rig Order for COSCO

COSCO Singapore Chinese subsidiary COSCO Qidong Offshore wins contract from Axis Offshore. The contract valued over US$200-million from Axis Offshore, a joint venture between Danish shipowner, J. Lauritzen and Norwegian private equity fund, HitecVision, is to build a harsh environment semi-submersible accommodation vessel. This rig will be built to Global Maritime’s design, GM500A and will provide accommodation for 500 persons. It will be equipped with a DP3 dynamic positioning system and is designed to operate in the harsh environment in the North Sea. The rig is scheduled for delivery in Q1 2015. The parties intend that the contract will be made effective within 3 months from the date of signing.

COSCO Gets Large Contract for Semi Submersible

COSCO contracted to build US$ 200 million semi-submersible accommodation vessel  for Cotemar S.A. The Board of Directors of COSCO Corporation (Singapore) Limited (the “Company”) announce that COSCO (Nantong) Shipyard Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of the Company’s 51% owned subsidiary, COSCO Shipyard Group Co. Ltd., has secured a contract valued over USD200 million from COTEMAR S.A. De C.V., a company incorporated in Mexico, to build a 'Harsh Environment Semi Submersible Accommodation Vessel'. This vessel will be built to GustoMSC Ocean500 design and have a capacity of 750 POB, DP3 Dynamic Positioning system, and is designed to operate in the Santos Basin, Gulf of Mexico and in the North Sea. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 30 months time.

Royston Earns Solstad Approval

Three weeks of intensive work late last year by engineers from Royston Limited has won praise from the operators of the Normand Installer after it was found to need an urgent engine overhaul before resuming work off West Africa. The 14,506 gt offshore construction support vessel is notable for having a 350 tonne capacity A-frame,  250 and 50 tonne heavy lift cranes, carousel cable/pipe laying system, 500 tonne anchor handling/towing winch system and DP3 dynamic positioning system.

STX Finland: Contract Signed Well Intervention Vessels

STX Finland Oy and Eide Marine Semi AS, a subsidiary of Eide Marine Services A/S, signed a contract for the outfitting, completion and delivery of two highly sophisticated well intervention vessels with an aggregate contract value exceeding EUR 300 million. The t well intervention vessels with deadweight of 31,000 tons will have a length of 122m and a width of 45m. The vessels are designed to operate in rough open sea conditions on Brazilian continental shelf. Vessels have innovative hullforms securing high seakeeping characteristics  together with DP3 dynamic positioning system  and truster arrangement. Large deck area  provides  opportunity to arrange all well serving equipment in most efficient way. The project will create a high outfitting work load for STX Finland and its network.
