Malyszko Named Plant Operations VP at Newport News Shipbuilding

America's largest military shipbuilder Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced on Tuesday that Karey Malyszko has been promoted to vice president of Plant Operations at its Newport News Shipbuilding division in Newport News, Va. Malyszko succeeds Dru Branche who retired in December.Effective immediately, Malyszko assumes overall responsibility for waterfront support services, facilities, environmental health and safety, and security. NNS Director Receives 'Women in Business' Award

Huntington Ingalls Industries says that Dru Branche, health and safety director for the company’s Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division, has been recognized as a recipient of an Inside Business 2013 Women in Business Achievement Award. Branche was presented with the award during a banquet held at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott. Branche is responsible for NNS’ environmental, safety, industrial hygiene, medical services and wellness programs, as well as compliance, workers’ compensation and leave services.

US Shipbuilder Receives Environmental Awards

Huntington Ingalls Industries' Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division receives HRSD gold awards. NNS received gold awards for meeting industrial waste water discharge limits mandated by Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) and for meeting HRSD's technical and administrative requirements. Gold awards were presented to local companies for perfect permit compliance in 2012 and NNS has earned recognition from the HRSD every year since the awards were first presented in 1994. "Newport News Shipbuilding works hard to be good a steward of the environment," said Dru Branche, NNS' director of environmental, health and safety. For more than a century, HII has built more ships in more ship classes than any other U.S.
