Boskalis Bags Duqm Port Development Order

Royal Boskalis Westminster NV has received a Letter of Intent to Award a contract for the development of the port of Duqm in Oman. The contract with a value of approximately EUR 480 million will be awarded by Sezad (Special Economic Zone Authority Duqm). The final award is subject to Sezad satisfying certain conditions. The contract includes the engineering, design, procurement and construction of a bulk liquid berth terminal. The Port of Duqm is a an existing strategic dry dock and industrial free trade zone located in the Al Wusta Region between Muscat and Salalah and has been designated as a Special Economic Zone. OSC’s New Feeder Service Links Oman to UAE

Oman Shipping Company (OSC) is launching a new freight service linking all Omani ports to the United Arab Emirates by mid-April, 2016, in a move that aims to boost trade links. OSC’s new fortnightly Oman Express Service will be the first freight feeder operator to connect all Omani ports. It will be run by OSC subsidiary Oman Container Lines (OCL). OSC chief executive Tarik Mohamed Al Junaidi said the new service will be cheaper and faster than the road transport which currently handles all freight to the interiors.

KR Shipping Supports Duqm Port, Dry Dock Ops

According to a report from Oman Daily Observer, shipping and maritime services provider Khimji Ramdas (KR) Shipping has set up a joint venture company to support the operations of the ship repair yard currently under commissioning at Duqm. The JV has been awarded a long-term contract to provide tugboat services to the state-owned Oman Dry-dock Company (ODC), which owns and manages the Duqm ship repair facility.   (Source: Oman Daily Observer)

Daewoo, Galfar Win $442m Oman Port Deal

has awarded Daewoo Shipbuilding and local firm Galfar GECS.OM a construction contract worth $442.2m at Duqm port, a Galfar official said. 's coastal area of Duqm is to become a fully integrated downstream export centre, together with a major export refinery and a petrochemicals complex. It will have a crude oil export terminal.
