ABP, Thor Shipping Sign New Port of Hull Contract

Associated British Ports (ABP) announced a major new agreement which sees Dutch shortsea specialist Thor Shipping & Transport commit 10 years to The Port of Hull.In addition, ABP has invested GBP6 million into Thor’s 10-acre leased terminal, allowing substantial infrastructure improvement works and an additional 2.5 acres of container storage space. As part of this key investment, in March 2019, a hybrid £3.5 million Liebherr harbour crane will arrive, to bolster eco-friendly operations for many years to come.Since July 2014 Thor has trebled its tonnage through the two-berth terminal on King George Dock. It has a regular container and breakbulk service from its own short sea operator - Sunline - connecting the UK with the East Coast of Sweden twice a week.

ScanOcean, Neste Pact for Low-Sulfur Bunker Fuel

Finland oil refining and marketing company Neste Corporation and Swedish bunker and marine fuels provider ScanOcean AB enter into cooperation in delivering Neste’s low-sulfur marine fuel. ScanOcean AB is now an official reseller for Neste’s 0.1% marine fuel products on the East Coast of Sweden. The low-sulfur marine fuel is one of Neste’s high quality products."The re-seller partnership with ScanOcean is part of our marine fuel strategy as it is our aim to continually offer customers better services both locally and globally. Peene-Werft Wolgast Delivers Vessel to Swedish Coast Guard

The coast guard vessel (Kustbevakningen Vessel) KBV 033 was handed over to the Swedish Coast Guard with a reflagging ceremony at dock three of the Peene shipyard in Wolgast. A special day for P+S Werften, currently under insolvency administration: Initially the Swedish Coast Guard placed an order for a total of four newly built KBVs in 2008; but in the context of insolvency proceedings, the Peene shipyard could not fulfill the order completely without a new agreement. Two of the coast guard vessels were already delivered in June and July of 2012.

Damen Shipyards Acquire Swedish Ship Repair Yard

Dutch shipbuilding and repair company Damen Shipyards Group has taken over the shares of Swedish shiprepair and maintenance yard Oskarshamnsvarvetin Oskarshamn. The acquisition was prepared in close cooperation with the owners and includes the full continuation of the repair yard, both as to current operations and personnel. Oskarshamnsvarvet is a shiprepair yard on the south-east coast of Sweden. It is specialized in the maintenance and repair of vessels up to 80 m and has built, repaired and maintained a substantial part of the Swedish coastal fleet since 1863. Apart from a floating dock, the company operates a slipway covered by a portal crane of 100 tons.

Damen Shipyards acquires Swedish shiprepair yard Oskarshamnsvarvet. On May 16th, 2012 Dutch shipbuilding and -repair company Damen Shipyards Group has taken over the shares of Swedish ship repair and maintenance yard Oskarshamnsvarvet in Oskarshamn. The acquisition was prepared in close cooperation with the owners and includes the full continuation of the repair yard, both as to current operations and personnel. Oskarshamnsvarvet is a ship repair yard on the south-east coast of Sweden.

Containerships Rebrands South Baltic Services and Agencies

Containerships is rebranding the South Baltic services and agencies built up under the Kursiu Linija name. From February 1, 2007 all Kursiu Linija services will be operated under the Containerships name. Containerships will also have its own agents in Lithuania and Latvia, under the names of Containerships Lithuania and Containerships Latvia. These replace UAB Arijus and Kursiu Linija Latvia. The Finland, Russia, Poland, Sweden service has also been enhanced from January 30, when the Carina made its first call in Klaipeda. She will add in Klaipeda into her rotation, which will then be: Helsinki - St. Petersburg - Klaipeda - Gdansk - Sodertalje.
