Fugro's Havila Harmony to join MH370 Search
Fugro is providing an additional vessel, the Havila Harmony, to join the search for the missing flight MH370 in the southern Indian Ocean. From the 93-metre multi-role vessel, Fugro will deploy the Echo Surveyor VII autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). Havila Harmony is under long-term charter to Fugro and has excellent sea-keeping capabilities, providing a stable platform for operations in a wide range of weather conditions. Echo Surveyor VII was used earlier this year in search operations; when sea conditions deteriorated beyond limitations for the safe launch and recovery of the AUV, it was withdrawn. The state-of-the-art AUV will…
US-built Survey Vessel Delivered to Fugro
Newbuild shallow draft survey vessel Fugro Americas was delivered to Fugro on March 18, 2015. Built by Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors in Louisiana, with supervision by Fugro Marine Services Custom, the new vessel is designed to Fugro’s specifications, fitted with the latest geophysical survey equipment and houses some of the most advanced instrumentation in the field, Fugro noted. The Fugro Americas is optimized for working in the Gulf of Mexico, but is also suited for operations in other geographical areas…
Flight MH370: Latest Fugro AUV Joins the Hunt
Fugro took delivery of the Hugin 1000 Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), the Echo Surveyor VII, in December 2014. Depth rated to 4,500 metres, the new AUV now holds the record for the deepest Hugin AUV dive, surveying in water depths surpassing 4,200 m. As the latest addition to Fugro’s AUV fleet, the Echo Surveyor VII is specifically designed for high resolution and efficient survey operations in water depths reaching 4,500 metres. The extended depth rating of the Kongsberg Hugin 1000 AUV places it in the most advanced ranking of deep sea survey instrument platforms…
Fugro Expands its Fleet
Fugro is expanding its survey fleet in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM) to include a new AUV, Echo Surveyor VII, and a new vessel, R/V Fugro Americas. ““Both these impending launches indicate our strong capabilities and commitment to our clients in the GOM and internationally,” says Melissa Jeansonne, Vice President, Fugro GeoServices, Inc. “Both the Fugro Americas and Echo Surveyor VII will join the current fleet later in the year. We already operate three AUVs in the GoM – one Hugin (Echo Surveyor II), and two Bluefin (Echo Mapper); and our new multi-purpose Fugro Americas vessel enables us to have three vessels capable of operating AUVs in the Americas. AUVs are the ultimate choice of instrument platform for deep sea and remote surveys.
