Guyana Puts Oil Auctions on Hold
Guyana has put planned oil auctions on hold as the impoverished South American country works to establish a Department of Energy to oversee the energy boom, Minister of State Joseph Harmon said on Monday.Since 1999, Guyana has awarded a group led by Exxon Mobil Corp hundreds of oil blocks along Guyana's maritime borders with Venezuela and Suriname. Porter Voices Concerns Over Texas Pipelines
Commissioner David Porter of the Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) Tuesday visited several south Texas border oil and gas facilities and pipeline rights-of-way to meet with field staff, operators, law enforcement and security officials to examine the vulnerability of Texas’ critical industry infrastructure. "While oil and gas operators take every precaution to limit any threat to their equipment and product, the unfettered flow of illegal aliens complicates their efforts,” said Porter. Commissioner Porter recently sent a letter to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske, questioning the agency’s commitment to border security and the protection of vital U.S. interests and infrastructure.
GL Noble Denton Wins Business Development Award
GL Noble Denton's contribution to developing and implementing safety regulations in hydrocarbon-rich countries has been recognized at the UK Gas Industry Awards. The independent technical advisor won the International Business Development category at a ceremony held in London recently, which was hosted by the Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA) and the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM). Ireland Selects GL Noble Denton for Safety Framework
GL Noble Denton, the global independent technical advisor to the oil and gas industry, has been appointed by the Irish Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) to assist in developing Ireland's new Petroleum Safety Framework (PSF). Once complete, the Petroleum Safety Framework will create a system that allows the CER to assess and monitor the safety of Ireland's petroleum industry. The half-million Euro project will outline how safety will be regulated for each stage of the lifecycle of Ireland's petroleum assets, from design, construction and operation to maintenance, modification and decommissioning of the full range of assets for which the regulations are deemed to apply.
