Oceanteam Bags Cable Transport Gig

Oceanteam Solutions has signed a contract with a European cable manufacturer regarding the supply of a transport vessel, turntable and auxiliary equipment for the transport of cables from South Europe to Scandinavia. The project is planned to be executed in summer 2017. Besides supporting the cable transport and loadout with a transport vessel and a turntable, Oceanteam will assist the multiple cable loadouts in the appointed ports by supplying equipment and a professional cable handling crew. The turntable system and auxiliary equipment will be loaded on the vessel at Oceanteam’s own quay facilities in Velsen Noord, the Netherlands, and subsequently will be shipped to South Europe. There, the cable will be spooled before heading to Scandinavia for the cable loadout.

Sonardyne helps major scientific discovery on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge

A Sonardyne Wideband Mini-Transponder was installed on the Holland 1 ROV and also on its tether management system.

Sonardyne International’s Ranger 2 USBL (Ultra-Short BaseLine) acoustic positioning technology has played a crucial role in a scientific mission to discover a new eco system on the floor of the Atlantic Ocean. The Irish led VENTuRE expedition used the Ranger 2 equipment to track the Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Holland 1 over three kilometres below the sea surface as it searched for and filmed evidence of the newly named Moytirra Vent Field. The mission to find and study the deep sea vent field on the mid Atlantic Ridge was undertaken from the Irish research vessel, RV Celtic Explorer.

Bouchard Signs Contracts With Bollinger

Bouchard Coatwise Management, Corp., Hicksville, N.Y., one of the largest operators of double hull articulated tug/barge ATB units in the U.S., has joined the list of Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. customers with the signing of a contract for Bollinger to build two 6,000 HP tugs, and two double-hull, clean product ocean-going barges that meet the requirements of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA ’90). One will have a 110,000-barrel capacity and the other will be able to carry 135,000 barrels. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The tugs will be built at Bollinger’s Lockport, La., division and the barges will be constructed at Bollinger-Gretna in Harvey, La.
