Royal IHC Ships Equipment for Weeks' New Hopper Dredge

A shipment of Royal IHC's equipment is traveling from Europe to the U.S. to be installed on Weeks Marine's new trailing suction hopper dredge (TSHD) R.B. Weeks, currently under construction at Eastern Shipbuilding Group's Allanton shipyard in Florida. In May of 2020, Royal IHC and Weeks Marine Inc. entered into a contract for the engineering and equipment delivery for the 6,540-cubic-meter-capacity newbuild, an identical vessel to the Magdalen delivered to Weeks from Eastern in 2017. Trump Bets on New European LNG Terminals

U.S. President Donald Trump expects the European Union to fund 9 to 11 liquefied natural gas (LNG) ports to absorb "vastly" more shipments from the United States but current EU investment in new projects will only help open small markets.In a White House press conference with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte late on Monday, Trump said part of the U.S.-EU trade talks sought to expand America's reach into the continent's gas markets which were awash in Russian supply."And we are already talking to the European Union about building anywhere from 9 to 11 ports…

Vroon W2W Vessel Upgraded ahead of First Charter

VOS Start, Vroon BV’s first DP2, subsea-support, walk-to-work (W2W) vessel has departed Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf following the installation of a first of its kind motion-compensated gangway system by Barge Master and Bosch Rexroth, the extended installation of a Kongsberg reference system (including a ‘windfarm module’), and an active heave-compensated crane from SMST. The 80m VOS Start arrived at Oranjewerf on June 1 from her build yard in China, staying for eight weeks in the yard to also undergo various other upgrades and preparations for her first project…

Sea IT Inks ICT Service Contract with Donsötank

Sea IT informs it has signed a three-year BlueCORE ICT service contract with Donsötank. The deal covers outsourcing of information technology and communication services onboard all vessels with BlueCORE operated by Donsötank. Donsötank has previously modernized and installed BlueCORE, an ICT platform specifically developed by Sea IT for the demanding conditions in the marine industry. “To achieve our business goals we build vessels with the highest standard in the world regarding onboard environment and communication equipment.

Statoil awards contracts for support services within HR

Statoil has decided to outsource certain tasks within the Human Resources (HR) function, and awards two new contracts to external suppliers. The number of full time positions in Statoil in Norway that will be affected is 69, in addition to 10 positions internationally. Around 2/3 of affected employees will be offered employment with the new vendors, either through transfer of undertakings or offer of employment. Increased use of outsourcing to external vendors is aimed at strengthening Statoil’s competitiveness. Previously in 2014 the decision was made to outsource services within IT, facility management and finance & control. The transfer of these services to new suppliers are currently ongoing.

Landmark Research Agreement with Sintef

Statoil and Sintef have signed a new framework agreement – one which likely to be the most comprehensive individual research agreement ever signed in Norway. With a potential value of NOK 1 billion, the agreement is valid for four years with an option for an additional two plus two years. “Sintef has both wide and expert knowledge in disciplines that are important to Statoil, such as deepwater and multi-phase technology,” says Statoil research and development head Karl Johnny Hersvik. Statoil entered into its first framework agreement with Sintef in 1985.
