Gulf Island Fabrication, Inc. has been awarded multiple subsea fabrication projects from a leading integrated subsea engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) company.The projects consist of procurement, fabrication, coating and testing of subsea structures for multiple developments located in the Gulf of Mexico. The fabricated components include pipeline end terminations (PLETs), jumper kits, jumpers and sleepers that will be fabricated at Gulf Island’s Houma fabrication facility.

Gulf Island Wins Ferry Contract

MacGregor Equipment for 2 US T-ATS Ships

Finnish marine cargo handling equipment provider MacGregor has been selected to supply repeat packages of deck machinery equipment for two new US Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) towing, salvage and rescue ships (T-ATS).According to a press release from MacGregor, part of Cargotec, the vessels under construction at Gulf Island Shipyards in Houma, Louisiana, US. MacGregor Deck Machinery Selected for Heavy-Duty Naval Operations

(GIFI) informs that through its subsidiary Gulf Island Marine Fabricators, L.L.C., it has signed a contract for the fabrication of two 8,000 bhp twin screw diesel-engined river towboats. Pacific Ship Repair Awarded 'USS Shoup' Contract Modification

The U.S. Department of Defense informs that Pacific Ship Repair and Fabrication, Inc., San Diego, California, is being awarded a $9,093,866 modification to previously awarded contract N00024-12-C-4400 for repair and modernization of 'USS Shoup' (DDG 86). DoD explains that for modernization, typical work performed may include ship alterations, blasting, painting, and surface preparation for complete or touch preservation of the underwater hull, freeboard, struts, rudders, running gear, ground tackle and sea chest, as well as various interior tanks. Work will be performed in Everett, Washington, and is expected to be completed by December 2014.

Gulf Island Fabrication Q2 2013 Profit Slip

Gulf Island Fabrication, Inc., based in Houma, Louisiana, reported net income of $4.3 million ($.30 diluted EPS) on revenue of $154.6 million for its second quarter ended June 30, 2013, compared to net income of $7.6 million ($.52 diluted EPS) on revenue of $137.2 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2012. The emergency towing system is a simple and proven means of storing the emergency towline, retrieving the loose barge and continuing the tow. When the pick-up line is pulled, the emergency tow wire runs completely off the reel and engages with the auxiliary town chain. 70 Shipyards Awarded ARRA Grants

The Department of Transportation has announced 70 grants totaling $98m in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds that will be used to improve small shipyards throughout the United States. The funds, awarded through the Maritime Administration’s Assistance to Small Shipyards program, will help create and preserve jobs, provide valuable employment training and make much needed improvements to shipyards across the country. The Small Shipyards Grant program provides up to 75 percent in ARRA funds for a project and requires the remainder be matched by the shipyard. (N55236-10-D-0006); Miller Marine, Inc., National City, Calif. (N55236-10-D-0003); Pacific Ship Repair and Fabrication, Inc.*, San Diego, Calif. (N55236-10-D-0004); and Tecnico Corporation*, Chesapeake, Va. (N55236-10-D-0005), are each being awarded an firm-fixed-price  multiple award five-year term contract. The total maximum ceiling amount value for all six contracts combined is $202,000,000. Contract will provide for sheet metal repair and fabrication services onboard Navy ships and other government vessels within a 50-mile radius of San Diego, Calif.

New USACE Contract

Gulf Island Fabrication, Inc., Houma, La., was awarded on May 6 a $9,410,156 firm-fixed-price contract to obtain marine services to modify the dredge Potter.  The modification includes replacing the existing upper deckhouse and pilothouse areas.  This project requires engineering and design, fabrication, testing, and delivery services to provide the required modifications.  The dredge Potter is in support of dredging efforts for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District.  Work is to be performed in Houma, La., with an estimated completion date of July 23, 2011.  Thirteen bids were solicited with three bids received.  U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District, Philadelphia, Pa., is the contracting activity (W912BU-10-C-0019).

Gulf Island Fab Reports Q1 2014 Revenue Increase

Houston headquartered Gulf Island Fabrication, Inc. reported net income of $3.5 million ($0.24 earnings per share) on revenue of $134.7 million for its first quarter ended March 31, 2014, compared to net income of $2.8 million ($0.19 earnings per share) on revenue of $150.4 million for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. The company had a revenue backlog of $271.4 million and a labor backlog of approximately 2.5 million man-hours at March 31, 2014, including commitments received through April 14, 2014, compared to a revenue backlog of $358.7 million and a labor backlog of 3.3 million man-hours reported as of December 31, 2013.
