IMarEST Appoints ANZSPAC Executive Director

Liz Hay, Executive Director of ANZSPAC (Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific) Division

The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) has appointed Liz Hay as Executive Director of its ANZSPAC (Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific) Division. She will combine the position with her dual role as Chief Executive Officer of both the Australian Shipbuilders Association and Australian Ship Repairers Group, which are currently in the process of merging. Based on Australia’s Gold Coast, Liz has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the Australian maritime sector.

New Singapore Affiliate for IMarEST

World Tankers Management Pte Ltd (WTM) of Singapore has become the latest Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) Marine Affiliate. The IMarEST Marine Partners scheme is the corporate partnership program of the institute – the leading professional body for the global marine community. Under the scheme customized corporate packages are created for each of the Corporate Partners and Marine Affiliates who include companies, universities, research institutes and training colleges. “We are very pleased to welcome World Tankers Management Pte Ltd as an IMarEST Marine Affiliate,” says IMarEST’s Interim Chief Executive, Fiona Morris.

2011 IMarEST Arctic Shipping and Offshore Technology Forum

This fall, the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) will sponsor the IMarEST Arctic Shipping and Offshore Technology Forum 2011, including the 1st Annual IMarEST ClassNK Lecture. The conference, to be held in central London, will consider Arctic Shipping Technology on Wednesday, October 5, and Arctic Offshore and Energy Technology on Thursday, October 6. The 1st Annual IMarEST ClassNK Lecture will take place on the first day of the conference. Castrol Marine Renews IMarEST Membership

Castrol Marine has renewed its Corporate Membership of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology’s (IMarEST) Marine Partners initiative. Fiona Morris, Acting Chief Executive of IMarEST, praised "Sea Your Future - a Guide to Marine Careers": a comprehensive assessment tool engineered by Castrol, which consists of eleven multi-level technical training modules designed to improve crew skills and knowledge levels. From Ship Types to Used Oil Analysis, the training covers key areas of the marine industry ensuring greater crew capability. Castrol Academy combines traditional print-based modules, with interactive DVDs and online assessment. The renewed partnership will see Castrol Academy modules available through IMarEST.
