GDI in Drilling Services Contract with NOC

Gulf Drilling International (GDI) has signed a three-year contract with North Oil Company (NOC) to provide drilling services through the drilling rig Dukhan for NOC’s extensive development programmes in Al Shaheen oil field.The Al Shaheen Oil Field is a production oil and gas field off the north east coast of Qatar in the Persian Gulf, 80 kilometres north of Doha.The subsidiary of Gulf International Services (GIS) said in a press release that the signing ceremony was attended by GDI’s Chief Executive officer William Ceppi and NOC’s Chief Executive Officer Jacques Azibert. CaroTrans Adds Direct Montreal-Le Havre Service

Global non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) and ocean freight consolidator CaroTrans today announced a new weekly less than container load (LCL) service from Montreal to Le Havre, France. This direct service has a 14 day transit. Freight can originate from as far west as Vancouver with handling provided by multiple container freight stations throughout Canada. The region in and around Montreal, the Quebec province, is a French speaking region with close, historical ties to France, and in turn robust trade, CaroTrans explained. Freight management at origin and destination is supported by a team including Odyssey, a CaroTrans partner in Canada, and CaroTrans’ Le Havre office. CaroTrans in Le Havre is positioned to expedite cargo release and on-carriage services.

Maersk's New Americas Company, SeaLand, to Commence in 2015

Ocean transportation company Maersk Line, a unit of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, announced today the formation of a regional, containerized shipping company – SeaLand - dedicated to the intra-Americas market. The new affiliate will have a structure similar to Maersk's other regional carriers such as intra-Asia carrier MCC Transport and intra-Europe carrier Seago Line. SeaLand will feature knowledgeable, local sales and support personnel positioned in North, Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean, to meet the unique needs of customers throughout the region.

Coast Guard-AWO Vessel Rider Program Kicks Off Second Year

For the second consecutive year, cadets from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy are spending time on board tugboats and towboats this summer as part of a program under the auspices of the Coast Guard-American Waterways Operators (AWO) Safety Partnership. The Coast Guard Academy Cadet Towing Vessel Rider Program was established in February 2012 to educate cadets on the tugboat, towboat and barge industry through a week or more of shoreside and onboard training. ClassNK Unveils New Mid-Term Plan

ClassNK Chairman & President Noboru Ueda revealed that ClassNK, already the world’s largest on a gross ton basis, aimed to have more than 200 million gross tons on its register by the end of 2013 as part of the Society’s new “Global Approach 200” mid-term plan, unveiled in Tokyo today. The plan was officially revealed to the press today following its approval by the ClassNK Administrative Council, which met for the first time since the Society completed its transition to a new legal structure in April of this year. On Dec. 31, Timothy J. Five years ago, I promised that the Port of Tacoma would take care of our customers, build a foundation for future growth, and be a good neighbor. Since then, I have had the privilege of working alongside an extraordinarily talented team, including Port employees, the Tacoma labor force, and our customers, business partners, vendors, and community members. The last five years have been intensely challenging, with record growth and record contraction of international trade. Through it all, I'm proud of the achievements that we have made on that initial promise. Take Care of Our Customers. Turkish Shipyards Boost for MarineLine

Following Advanced Polymer Coatings’ announcement earlier in the year of its first two chemical tanker coatings contracts won in Turkey, the anticorrosion specialist has just announced a number of further new business gains and opportunities in this developing shipbuilding country. It has also reported gains in other markets. APC’s unique polymer-based tank protection system MarineLine has now been specified for the cargo tanks of 10 more ships to be constructed or converted in Turkey. These range in size from two 1,450 dwt chemical tankers for Holland’s Unifleet NV, to be constructed by the RMK Marine shipyard, to two 29,990 dwt chemical tankers from UM Shipyard for Fairfield Chemical Tankers of the USA.
