Maersk Bullish on India

Domestic reforms have slowed down India’s trade momentarily, thereby weakening domestic demand. However, A.P. Moller – Maersk expects Indian EXIM trade to pick up pace in the next quarter. “This dip in import growth was due to piling up of inventory in the market post demonetisation and lack of clarity around Good and Service Tax. It is noteworthy that despite the looming threat of the current geopolitical environment worldwide on global trade, India has been able to maintain its growth trajectory,” Franck Dedenis, Head of West Central Asia Trades said. Policies such as GST are taking final shape and the global economic outlook for 2017 is offering favourable prospects.

India's Box Trade to Grow Double Digits: Maersk

Maersk Line said that the growth of EXIM container trade of India in the current year is likely to be in two digits. The export-import container trade volume of India grew by 10% for the full year 2016, which was double of 2015, that too amid weak global trade. In 2017, the growth is likely to be in two digits provided that India maintains its growth in markets like the Middle East, Latin America and East Africa, enhancing its client portfolio and diversifying the risks, said Maersk in its 2016 Annual India Trade Report. Maersk Line believes, that with the right policy initiatives India can continue to grow and improve its position in the global trade, delivering double-digit growth in 2017.

Maersk Launches App for Cargo Tracking

Maersk Line today launched a mobile app to manage and track cargo on the move. documentation. Commenting on this development, Mr. Franck Dedenis, Managing Director, Maersk Line (India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh) said, “We are excited to announce the launch of this mobile app which will help find and manage cargo in an instant. improving and simplifying our interaction with our customers. This will enable customers to further strengthen their businesses and create a dynamic business platform to expand globally in a convenient and faster way. This move is a step towards a paperless and hassle free shipping industry. The app is compatible with iOS and Android devices. The app can be downloaded from Play store and App Store.

Maersk Bullish on India

BRICS bloc export-import (exim) containerised trade with the world registered a growth of 5.8 per cent in the first half of 2016 as against de-growth of 2.2 per cent in the same period last year  was "led by India", reports Times of India quoting Maersk Line sources. Volumes should improve as GDP for BRICS is expected to increase to 5.7 per cent in 2017, an improvement over the previous forecast of 5.3 per cent. "China is expected to grow more than 6 per cent in 2017, India at 8 per cent, Brazil at more than 0.5 pr cent and Russia at above 1 per cent," it said in a release here. Largest Ship to Dock in Colombo

M. V. Mogens Maersk, one of the world’s largest ships will arrived in Colombo yesterday. To mark the occasion, an on-boarding ceremony is being organized at the CICT Terminal at the Colombo port. Senior officials from the Maersk Group and regional office Maersk line in Sri Lanka along with Sri Lankan port officials and the top importers and exporters will grace the occasion. This state –of-the- art triple-E liner is calling on Colombo for the first time and it’s last port of call is Rotterdam. M. V. Mogens Maersk is part of the AE2 service, under the global 2M alliance between Maersk Line and MSC connecting Asia and Europe. AE2 service will call Colombo Eastbound and carry imports from Europe into Colombo as well as load exports from Colombo to China and Korea.

Krishnapatnam Port, Maersk Launches Mainline Service for China

Krishnapatnam, the country’s largest all-weather; deep water port on the east-coast of India has marked another milestone towards operational excellence as it launched its weekly mainline service from China to Krishnapatnam Port. The service to be operated by Maersk line in partnership with Hanjin Shipping of Korea will provide the fastest and most competitive service to the exporters and importers of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Northern Tamil Nadu to the ports of China, Far East Asia and South East Asia. The current transit time for bulk cargo like furniture, office and hotel interiors which take 40-45 days to reach the consignee will be straight halved with the launch of the new service through Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal.

Maersk Cuts Landing Certificate Issuance Time

Mumbai, 25th April, 2016: Maersk Line India has taken a major leap towards simplifying the Landing Certificate process by drastically reducing the time of issuance to just 12 hours. The process requires the customers to request for the certificate and they will receive it via email. This simplified process of issuing the Landing Certificate will be effective from 1st May, 2016 and will provide a hassle free transaction experience for the customers. (I) Landing Certificate within half a day: A customer after requesting for a Landing Certificate will receive it via email within 12 hours after the submission of the application. (II) Fee waiver: To make it quick and simple for customers, Maersk Line has also removed the Landing Certificate charge of INR 1000 per certificate.

Maersk Krishnapatnam Service from April 17th

Maersk starts its Krishnapatnam Service from April 17th and Kattupalli on April 19th, 2016. Both these calls are strategic and are aimed at supporting the growth of local businesses in the hinterland covering Andhra Pradesh, Northern Tamil Nadu and Eastern Karnataka. Commenting on this announcement, Mr. Franck Dedenis, Managing Director, Maersk Line (India and Bangladesh Cluster) said, “Our decision to call on these ports reiterates Maersk Line’s commitment in bringing value to our customers. Maersk to Call at Kakinada

Maersk Line becomes the first liner to operate from Kakinada port which offers customers global coverage. Maersk Line India has added a new port of call into Kakinada connecting Colombo and onwards connectivity to West Africa and South Africa. Maersk line will  serve Kakinada through its Mesawa service, which is a direct weekly service from Jebel Ali, Mundra and Nhava Sheva to South and West Africa. Commenting on this development, Mr. Franck Dedenis, Managing Director, Maersk (India and Sri Lanka) said, “We are excited to announce the addition of Kakinada in the list of our port of call with a fixed vessel schedule. Maersk to Introduce Low Sulphur Surcharge

To offset the additional cost incurred by switching to cleaner fuels in Emission Control Areas, as required by the new regulation, Maersk Line will introduce a new Low Sulphur Surcharge (LSS). The surcharge will be effective from 1 January 2015 and affect all cargo with load port, transshipment and/or discharge port in Emission Control Areas. This is Maersk line’s ongoing commitment to sustainability by supporting the establishment of ECAs as a way to reduce air pollution from shipping. The Low Sulphur Surcharge (LSS) will be charged as a separate item on the costumers’ invoices. Tariff will be reviewed quarterly. To offset the additional cost incurred, Maersk Line will incorporate the higher average fuel costs into the existing standard bunker surcharge (SBF).

Non-implementation Of P3 Network Will Have No impact On India

India will hardly be impacted by the planned P3 network not getting implemented. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) have announced that they have not approved the P3 Network (Maersk Line, MSC and CMA CGM). The MOFCOM’s decision follows a review under China's merger control rules. The P3 partners take note of and respect MOFCOM’s decision. Subsequently, the partners have agreed to stop the preparatory work on the P3 Network and the P3 Network as initially planned will not come into existence. Mr. Franck Dedenis, Managing Director for Maersk Line (India and Sri Lanka), said, “P3 would have provided Maersk Line with a more efficient network and our customers with a better product, globally.
