Wärtsilä Reinforces West Coast Presence with Seattle Facility

Account Managers from Wärtsilä, Frank Shanahan and Richard Reynolds lead guests in an overview of trends in the natural gas engine market.

Wärtsilä inaugurated its West Coast workshop in Seattle with a customer appreciation lunch on May 20, 2014. The event was held in the new facility located just minutes away from the Port of Seattle. Guests were invited to tour and learn about the comprehensive portfolio of services that Wärtsilä provides. Marine industry solutions and services provider Wärtsilä was honored at the State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor’s Society on October 28 in downtown New York. The event, hosted by SUNY Chancellor, Nancy Zimpher, was arranged to formally recognize top donors of the 64-campus SUNY network; the largest comprehensive system of public higher education in the United States. In recognition of the strong partnership between Wärtsilä and the State University of New York, Maritime College, the University nominated Wärtsilä to be inducted as a ‘2013 Transformer’ of the Chancellor’s Society.

Wärtsilä Donates Engine to SUNY Maritime College

Wärtsilä to donate diesel engine and equipment to SUNY Maritime College Engineering Department; Donation valued at $1 million. Wärtsilä, the marine industry’s leading solutions provider, will donate the main components of a hybrid diesel propulsion system to the Engineering Department at State University of New York Maritime College. The unveiling ceremony on October 12, 2011 serves as the official dedication and opening of the Wärtsilä Lab, housed in Marvin Tode Hall, science and engineering building on the SUNY Maritime campus, the Bronx, New York City.

Donnelly Appointed President, Wärtsilä North America

Frank W. Donnelly has been appointed President, Wärtsilä North America, Inc. as of March 27th, 2007. He is also continuing as Vice President, Power Plants in Wärtsilä North America. After graduating from Rice University, Houston, Texas, Mr. Donnelly began his career with the French engine manufacturer, SACM, as its head of North American operations. During this period, he focused primarily on offshore generation for semi-submersibles and standby power for nuclear plants. Mr Donnelly joined Wärtsilä in 1988 in connection wíth the acquisition of SACM. During the 90s, he was active in Wärtsilä's Power Development and sales of power plants in Central America and Caribbean.
