PDVSA to Receive US Crude Cargo from BP
Venezuela's PDVSA will discharge in the coming days its first cargo of U.S. crude bought from British BP, who along with China Oil was awarded a tender to supply the state-run company with some 8 million barrels in the second quarter, traders close to the deal told Reuters on Wednesday. PDVSA, who is facing delays to load and discharge tankers at its main crude port, Jose, will receive the cargo at the neighboring island of Curacao where it operates a storage facility, according to Thomson Reuters vessel tracking data. The number of tankers waiting to load and discharge at PDVSA's Bullenbay terminal in Curacao has fallen in recent days, the data say, but it has not eased around Jose. The tanker Krymst was loaded with 500,000 barrels of West Texas Intermediate crude at the U.S.
Siemens Weighs In As GE Prepares Alstom Power Deal
Alstom's arch rival Siemens wants talks with the struggling French engineering group, the German company said on Sunday, the day General Electric boss Jeff Immelt is due in Paris to thrash out a deal to buy Alstom's global power arm. Siemens said in a statement that it had written a letter to "signal its willingness to discuss future strategic opportunities" with the French group. France's government has said it wants to find alternatives to the GE offer, which sources say puts a value of $13 billion on the turbines and power grid equipment business and could be announced in days. Economy Minister Arnaud Montebourg said last week that he plans a meeting with Immelt.
Korea Shipyard to Build Icebreaking LNG Carrier
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has won the first battle in the war among the shipbuilders to obtain orders for vessels to participate in the Russian Arctic 'Yamal Project' by getting the world’s first order for an icebreaking LNG carrier, reports BusinessKorea. Siemens Receives Major Order for Russian LNG Project
Siemens will deliver the key components for a power station that is going to supply the future Yamal LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) production plant in Northern Russia with electricity and heat. The Siemens scope of supply comprises the design, manufacture, factory testing, delivery, installation and commissioning of eight SGT-800 industrial gas turbines as well as nine step-up transformers. Four of these turbines will additionally be equipped with waste heat recovery units. The power plant will have an electrical output of 376 megawatts (MWe). The order has been placed by the Russian engineering company Technopromexport (TPE), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rostec State Corporation.
