Germany's RWE Widens Global Search for LNG Supplies

Ineos Inks 20-year LNG Deal with Sempra Infrastructure

Britain's INEOS Energy, part of INEOS Group, has signed an agreement with U.S. firm Sempra Infrastructure for the supply of 1.4 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from North America for 20 years, it said on Wednesday.It marks INEOS's entry into the global LNG market, with the volumes intended both for trading and supplying of INEOS' own industrial needs in Europe.The LNG will be delivered free-on-board, from either the proposed Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 project or the Cameron LNG Phase 2 projects in the U.S.

Asian LPG Market to Cross $109Bln by 2024

The Asian liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) market stood at over $81.4 billion in 2018 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 5% to cross $109 billion by 2024, as increasing demand for LPG  as a fuel for power generation in remote and off-grid locations in comparison to its less environment-friendly alternatives like coal, diesel and fuel oil.Increasing demand for LPG used to run vehicles (Autogas)  is being witnessed as it is a comparatively cheaper automotive fuel and can be used in vast applications related to transportation, said a report by ResearchAndMarkets.Of the overall LPG consumed across the globe, nearly 87% is used for residential/consumer use.By source, the Asian LPG market has been categorized into Refinery, Associated Gases & Non-Associated Gases.

MOL Signs FSRU Charter Deal

Japanese shipping transport company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has signed a charter deal with Hong Kong LNG Terminal Limited for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU).The FSRU would be used for the Hong Kong Offshore LNG Terminal Project (HKOLNG Project), which is a joint venture established by  Castle Peak Power Company Limited (CAPCO) and The Hongkong Electric Co., Ltd. (HK Electric).The FSRU vessel will be used for receiving, storing, and regasifying LNG for the supply of natural gas to CAPCO and HK Electric for power generation through two separate subsea gas pipelines.MOL will also be responsible for providing operations…

Langh Tech Delivers Scrubbers for 12 NORDEN Vessels

Langh Tech said it will deliver SOx scrubber systems for a dozen vessels owned by Danish shipowner Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A/S, marking the Finnish scrubber manufacturer’s largest deal so far.Langh Tech Oy Ab will supply for retrofit four tankers and eight bulk carriers in the NORDEN- fleet with SOx scrubbers of open loop-type.The tankers have two boilers and a total of six exhaust gas sources are connected to the scrubber. Automation enables the scrubber plant to be operated in two exhaust gas cleaning modes corresponding to 0.1 or 0.5 percent sulphur in the fuel.

Poland has Natgas Exports 'understanding' with U.S.

Poland's desire to cut natural gas imports from Russia has led to an "understanding" with the United States to work toward a deal to export liquefied natural gas to its new Baltic Sea terminal, the country's deputy prime minister said on Wednesday. Mateusz Morawiecki, who is also the minister of economic development and finance, said in an interview that discussions with new U.S. "The word agreement is probably premature. Understanding? Absolutely," Morawiecki said as he wrapped up a three-day U.S. visit with stops in Washington, Boston and New York. Poland's liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in the Baltic Sea was completed in 2015 and opened last year. It has an annual capacity of 5 billion cubic meters, which the government wants to double in the next few years, Morawiecki said.

Shell, CNPC cooperating in deep-sea exploration, shale gas

Royal Dutch Shell and the China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) have signed a deal to boost cooperation in sectors like deep sea exploration as well as liquefied natural gas (LNG) and unconventional gas sources like shale, CNPC said on Wednesday. The two companies had agreed to join forces in the development of both upstream and downstream energy businesses, CNPC said on its website. Ben van Beurden, in his first overseas visit since becoming Shell's chief executive, told CNPC Chairman Zhou Jiping that both sides have set up deep and wide-ranging ties and have huge room for further cooperation. World's First FLNG Vessel Steel-Cutting

A steel cutting ceremony for the hull of Petronas' first Floating Liquid Natural Gas (FLNG) held at the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in Okpo, South Korea. The steel cutting event signifies a major milestone for the project, which according to Petronas is the world’s first, and the construction phase now commences to meet its commissioning schedule in 2015. The ceremony was led by Petronas’ President and Group CEO, Tan Sri Dato’ Shamsul Azhar Abbas and was jointly hosted by Technip’s President & CEO Mr. Thierry Pilenko and DSME’s President & CEO Mr. Jaeho Ko. The floating LNG facility will be located in Malaysia’s Kanowit gas field, 180 kilometres offshore Sarawak and will have the capacity to produce 1.2 mtpa of LNG per year.

BP Amoco Orders Two LNG Carriers From SHI

BP Amoco ordered two liquified natural gas (LNG) ships, with options to purchase three more, from Samsung Heavy Industries Co for in excess of $300 million. The oil giant, which is the world's second largest non-state producer of natural gas, said construction will start in April 2001 with delivery of the first ship in the fourth quarter of 2002 and the second in the first quarter of 2003. "This order is part of our strategy for rapidly growing our internationally traded gas business. It is unusual in that it does not follow the traditional convention of tying vessel orders to specific gas sources and specific gas customers," said Richard Flurry, chief executive, Gas and Power in a statement.

America's thirst for energy and high fuel prices after hurricanes Katrina and Rita have rekindled the fight over oil and gas drilling off Florida, where clean beaches are the bedrock of a $57 billion-a-year tourism industry. Environmentalists say they are girding for battle as pump prices of $3 a gallon soften longstanding support for bans on offshore drilling, once sacred to Florida politicians and the state's 17 million people. With Washington pressing for new domestic oil and gas sources to ease U.S. dependence on foreign energy, the eastern Gulf of Mexico, long sought by oil companies, has risen to the top of the national agenda again.
