MV Werften Rolls-out New Production Facility

Hong Kong–German shipbuilding company MV Werften put into operation the laser-hybrid welding line in its new hall 11 for producing panels measuring up to 25 x 16 meters for the Global Class cruise ships.Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s Economics Minister Harry Glawe, representatives of Genting Hong Kong, MV Werften , the automation provider Pemamek as well as other project partners were present in the new Hall 11 when the plant produced its first weld seam.“The new plant enables us to make a significant increase in the capacity of our steel prefabrication for the Global cruise ships in Rostock and take a further, important step towards Industry 4.0.

Genting Completes Purchase of 3 shipyards

Genting Hong Kong, announced the completion of the acquisition of Nordic Yards’ three shipyards in Wismar, Warnemunde and Stralsund, Germany for the consideration of 230.6 million Euros. HFW Lawyers Advise Genting HK on Cruise Ship Order

International maritime law partnership Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW) says it has advised Chinese Percept Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Genting Hong Kong Limited (Genting), on the group's second newbuild mega-cruise ship order in 12 months, in a deal with German shipbuilder Meyer Werft GmbH worth €697.2 million. The HFW team, led by Hong Kong Partner Patrick Yeung, advised Genting on the shipbuilding contract and related ECA-supported financing. London based Partner Elinor Dautlich and Senior Associate Alex Sayegh negotiated the shipbuilding contract, while Partner John Forrester and Associate Gudmund Bernitz (also London based) advised on the ECA-backed financing.

KfW IPEX-Bank Finance For 2nd Star Cruises' Ship

With a loan of EUR 600 million, KfW IPEX-Bank is financing the construction of a second cruise ship for Star Cruises, the leading cruise line in Asia, at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg. The signing ceremony of the relevant contracts took place today in Hong Kong. The second new ship is expected to ship in the fourth quarter of 2017. Star Cruises of Malaysia to Order Metso DNA System

MS Star Pisces cruise ship will be operated by a Metso DNA automation system from March 2013.

The Star Cruises of Malaysia has chosen Metso to refurbish the automation system on its MS Star Pisces cruise ship that sails in the Far East. The vessel's new automation will increase reliability and customer comfort. After docking in Hong Kong in February, the vessel will continue its cruise program from March 2013 onwards. Metso will supply its state-of-the-art Metso DNA system to replace the present Damatic Classic automation system that it had supplied earlier. Ship automation systems from Metso have a long history.
