Oceanjet: Building to a Proven Design

With more than 2,000 inhabited islands among a total of 7,000, the Philippines are a natural location for a ferry business. Until the 1990s, the Oceanjet’s parent company was in the business of barging heavy cargos between islands, but an opportunity to purchase a fast ferry started them on another path.With the purchase of Ocean Jet 1, their first ferry, the company began the steady process of growth for their ferry operation from their base in Cebu. SENER Celebrates 60 Years

The SENER engineering and technology group will celebrate its sixtieth anniversary in 2016. It has grown into a multidisciplinary international group which offers solutions in Aeronautics, Engineering and Construction, and Energy and Environment. SENER was founded on the basis of three important premises: to create high-quality projects, to anticipate the industry’s problems with innovative solutions, and to be independent and flexible in order to adapt to the market’s demands.

Design & Operation: Wind Farm Support Vessels

Offshore wind farm development has been led globally by the UK, followed by Germany. Both countries have governments with long term commitments to renewable energy. Denmark, Belgium and The Netherlands are building wind farms, but they are a long way behind the leaders in offshore wind. In 2014 the UK accounted for over 50% of all the offshore wind energy generated globally. All of these countries border the North Sea, a notoriously stormy sea area, which has a high frequency of wind to drive the turbines. Traditional survey vessels are first to arrive in a potential wind farm area.

Strategic Marine Wins Offshore Cargo Catamaran Contract

Western Australian (WA) ship builder Strategic Marine has signed a contract with repeat client Offshore Plant Hire for the construction of a 24 meter heavy duty offshore cargo catamaran. The catamaran will be built at Strategic Marine's Singapore facility which is nearing the end of a major expansion program which will see the shipyard more than double its capacity. The vessel will be completed in the first quarter of 2013 and is expected to operate in WA’s North West. The contract follows the delivery of a 27 meter work barge to Offshore Plant Hire earlier in 2012.
