Humphree Interceptors for Seastreak's Newest Ferry
Interceptors and Active Ride Control supplied by Humphree USA will help deliver a smooth and stable ride for the newest addition to the Seastreak ferry fleet.Seastreak Commodore, which was put into service this summer, is the biggest and fastest passenger ferry in the Seastreak fleet. The 150-foot catamaran can carry up to 600 passengers. The high-speed vessel makes daily commuter runs between Sandy Hook, N.J., and the East 35th Street terminal in New York City, with transit times of about 45 minutes.
New Ferry Seastreak Commodore Delivered
Seastreak’s newest vessel, Seastreak Commodore, has been developed in response to significant passenger volume growth and brings the operator’s fleet of Incat Crowther-designed vessels to a total of eight.The 45m-long, 600-passenger ferry built at the Gulf Craft shipyard in Louisiana is the highest capacity UCSG k-Class fast ferry ever built. Incat Crowther said it worked closely with Seastreak to develop the vessel’s layout and styling to allow 600 people to safely and comfortably undertake their daily commute.
MTU Engines First Choice for Emirates Boatbuilder
MTU distributor Al Masaood and Arabian yacht builder Gulf Craft sign preferred partner agreement. Under the agreement, the Arabian shipyard Gulf Craft will soon offer MTU Series 2000 and 4000 engines in its Majesty Yachts as its primary engine option. The agreement was signed by Gulf Craft and Al Masaood, a Tognum Group distributor for MTU engines in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, at this year’s Dubai International Boat Show. The contract will extend through 2014 and provides more than 50 engines ranging from 8, 10, 12 and 16-cylinder units of Series 2000 to 12-cylinder engines of Series 4000. “This preferred partner agreement will allow us to strengthen our long-standing partnership and significantly expand our market share,” said Tognum Chief Sales Officer Dr. Michael Haidinger.
SEACOR Marine Chooses MTU engines
SEACOR Marine has selected marine diesel engines from the Tognum brand MTU for its latest pair of fast supply vessels. The two vessels, SEACOR Lynx and SEACOR Leopard, will have an overall length of 190 feet and the capacity to carry up to 150 passengers. The vessels will also have the capacity to carry 150 tons of deck cargo and the ability to achieve speeds of 46 knots. Seacor Marine Christens First Crewzer Class Vessel
SEACOR Marine LLC christened its first CrewZer Class vessel, the SEACOR CHEETAH, in Galveston, Texas. Joyce McCall, wife of nearly fifty years to offshore industry pioneer Norman McCall, acted as the vessel's sponsor in recognition of her life-long contribution to the McCall legacy. The SEACOR CHEETAH was designed to provide customers a faster and more stable delivery platform than the industry standard. After examining various hull types, SEACOR chose the Catamaran's twin-hull design for its ability to reach top speeds in excess of 40 knots while increasing passenger comfort and safety.
