The hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) departed Los Angeles Friday after supporting local COVID-19 response efforts during the coronavirus pandemic.Mercy has been at the World Cruise Center Terminal in the Port of Los Angeles since March 27, serving state and local healthcare providers by treating non-COVID-19 patients in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). March on Stress Assesses MPHRP's care

Professor Neil Greenberg of March on Stress at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London, visited the Philippines to assess the competencies of mental healthcare providers who assist MPHRP in supporting seafarers and families after piracy. The visit also provided an opportunity for Professor Greenberg to meet with the MPHRP regional team based in Manila to share knowledge and experience. Professor Greenberg met with five organisations. The interviews were aimed to ask questions about the various standards that are required to run a mental healthcare / psychotherapy service in the UK according to a Core Standards document which has been developed by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Ebola Outbreak Delays Mercy Ships Sail to Africa

Collateral hardship from the Ebola epidemic now includes a delay for Mercy Ships, which operates the world’s largest civilian hospital ship in ports on the West Coast of Africa. Already with one canceled deployment to Guinea, where Ebola first broke out last December, the Mercy Ship now waits in the water with crew and staff, pending an end-of-August decision on field service in Benin.
