New Patrol Boat Delivered in Minnesota
Lake Assault Boats said it has delivered a 28-foot rescue vessel to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Water Patrol Unit located in Minneapolis, Minn. Purchased from the General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule, the vessel will assist in rescue and recovery operations along the Mississippi River. The vessel is powered by a pair of Mercury Verado 300 hp engines with digital throttle, shift and power steering, as well as the Mercury Joystick Piloting and Skyhook Digital Anchoring systems.
Navy Divers Recognized for Minneapolis Bridge Relief Efforts

Bush thanked the divers of Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 2 on Aug. 21 for their hard work during search and recovery operations at the site of the Interstate 35 bridge collapse here. President Bush arrived at the 934th Air Reserve Base aboard Air Force One. Following a briefing on the search and recovery operations with state and federal officials, Bush was escorted to a hangar bay where he met with the divers.
Multi-Agency Cooperation Fuels Bridge Recovery
As crews move forward in recovery efforts of the I-35 bridge collapse, multiple agencies are working together to make the job move smoothly. “The overall coordination and support we’ve received from local, state and federal authorities have been absolutely tremendous,” Hennepin County Sheriff, Richard W. Stanek said. While agencies like the Defense Department and FBI had to be called in from out of state, local agencies have been working on site from the beginning. Each arriving agency has been integrated swiftly into the recovery process. "When you bring in a military organization, you get quick concise crisp answers to questions,” Stanek said.

MDSU-2 divers and a command and control element that includes representatives from Naval Sea Systems Command and Underwater Construction Team (UCT) 1 have been in Minneapolis since Aug.
