SUNY Maritime: Bridging the Competency Gap

SUNY Maritime’s Cutting Edge Tug & Barge Simulator fills an enormous training hole in the tri-state area. When Morton S. Bouchard, III, maritime and political dignitaries officially opened the Bouchard Transportation Co., Inc. Tug & Barge Simulation Center on the campus of the State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College last October, it opened a new era in maritime transportation for SUNY cadets and professional mariners in the greater New York area. That’s because the only other available simulator in the area had long since been moved to the Gulf Coast. With the snip of a ribbon by an oversized pair of ceremonial scissors, however, that situation was immediately resolved.

TU Varna Receives Training Certification

Following a compliance audit, the simulation center of the TU Varna was officially certified by the European Maritime Administration in Bulgaria to provide maritime training in full compliance with the latest STCW and IMO regulations. All simulators at the TU Varna Center are delivered by VSTEP and include NAUTIS FMB and NAUTIS Desktop simulators as well as Engine Room Simulators. CMI Orders VSTEP Simulators

The Caribbean Maritime Institute has ordered multiple VSTEP simulators for its new high tech simulation center at the campus in Kingston, Jamaica. VSTEP will deliver all simulator solutions for the facility, including a NAUTIS Full Mission Bridge Simulator and a Class C Engine Room Simulator. CMI also ordered full classroom setups for both NAUTIS Desktop Trainers and NAUTIS Engine Room Desktop Trainers.
