Green Initiative Progress Report by US Ship Operator

A report (available at www.horizonlines.com) presenting the company’s progress in pursuing environmental excellence through its ongoing “Green Initiatives Program" has been release by Horizon Line.” The report describes the carrier’s efforts to mitigate environmental impact from shipping operations and intermodal transport. Initiatives taken up by Horizon Lines include vessel management controls, low sulfur diesel fuel usage, and marine terminal pollution mitigation planning.

Horizon Lines Vessel Stages Predawn Rescue of Sailboat Passengers Adrift in Pacific Storm. Horizon Lines, Inc. the nation's leading domestic ocean shipping and integrated logistics company, today announced that one of its vessels enroute to Hawaii from the U.S. West Coast rescued three sailboat passengers, including a nine-year-old boy, adrift in stormy seas in the predawn hours of February 8, 2012. Horizon Line to Launch U.S. Inland Express Service

Horizon Lines, Inc. (NYSE: HRZ), aleading U.S. domestic ocean shipping and integrated logistics company, announced it will launch express intermodal container service to key inland U.S. cities when it begins the new Five Star Express (FSX) trans-Pacific liner service in December. The maiden FSX voyage is scheduled to depart Ningbo, China, on December 14, 2010, Shanghai on December 15, and arrive in Los Angeles on December 26. Approximately 60% of the initial voyage is already subscribed, as the company continues to make steady progress toward its goal of 75% bookings for the first sailing. Harley Marine was Pivotal Private Equity Speaker at Marine Money

Harley Franco, Founder and Chairman of Pacific Coast operator Harley Marine Services, Inc., was a pivotal private equity speaker at a recent Marine Money conference held in New York City. Mr. Franco represented the private equity position on a finance panel consisting of public maritime companies including Overseas Shipholding Group and Horizon Line. In his presentation, Mr. Franco outlined the various finance structures utilized which enabled him to remain private.
