MacGregor Solutions for LNG-powered Cruise Ships

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured orders for environmentally-friendly equipment for four next-generation eco-cruise ships which will be built in Germany and Finland. The vessels will be the first liquefied natural gas-powered cruise ships to enter the market. The orders were booked into first quarter 2016 order intake. "Cruise ships operate in some of the world's most fragile ecosystems and a rising demand from both authorities and operators requires that onboard systems are as environmentally-friendly as possible," says Lars Öberg, Sales Manager, RoRo at MacGregor. MacGregor deliveries include electrically-operated shell doors and electric frequency-controlled Hatlapa winches.

Cargotec subsidiary, MacGregor, contracted to deliver electrically-driven RoRo equipment for two new car carriers. The two RoRo ships are under construction at Shin-Kurushima’s main facility,Onishi Shipyard,in Japan. MacGregor Wins Ship Equip Deal

More car carriers benefit from established MacGregor electric-drive technology. MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured a contract to deliver electrically-driven RoRo equipment for two new car carriers under construction at Shin-Kurushima's main facility, Onishi Shipyard, in Japan. Each ship will be supplied with a stern ramp, a side ramp, six internal ramps, a ramp cover and hoistable car decks. The order is booked into Cargotec's 2012 fourth quarter order intake. Coast Guard Detains Vessel in Portland

The Coast Guard has since Sunday taken action in three unrelated marine safety cases, which has protected the environment, protected mariners and protected the maritime transportation system in the port of Portland, Oregon. Sector Columbia River’s recent activity began around 11 a.m. Sunday with notification from the 648-foot car carrier Morning Spruce of the vessel’s loss of engine power while 12 miles southwest of the Columbia River bar, leaving the vessel adrift in 12-foot seas. The Coast Guard Captain of the Port issued an order directing the owner of the Morning Spruce to immediately contract for tow vessels to hold the ship offshore. In addition to its cargo, the Morning Spruce was reportedly carrying a combined 543,000 gallons of heavy oil, diesel and lube oil.

Car Carriers Have All-electric Cargo Equipment

MOL’s new generation of ‘eco-friendly’ efficient PCTCs are entering service; they feature MacGregor RoRo access outfits from Cargotec and are the world’s first car carriers to have all of their RoRo equipment electrically-driven. Cargotec’s growing electric-drive RoRo reference portfolio now includes the first vessel to have all-electrically-driven RoRo access equipment entering service. The 4,000-unit pure car truck carrier (PCTC), Iris Ace, is owned and operated by Japanese company, Mitsui O.S.K.
