New Addition to The Shearer Group Team

The Shearer Group, Inc. (TSGI) has announced a new addition to its naval architecture, marine engineering and marine surveying practice. Harrison Brann joined TSGI in October of 2015 as a naval architect. In 2011, Harrison graduated with a bachelor’s degree in naval architecture and marine engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He has a wide range of knowledge of marine engineering specialties including ship stability, damage analysis, systems integration, ship survivability, and firefighting systems. Previously, Harrison has worked for the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) in their ship engineering department analyzing stability calculations for engineering firms, shipyards, and vessel owners.

Murray & Associates Hosts Third Fishing Challenge

A group of industry professionals from the commercial maritime sector gathered in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. at 8 a.m. on February 8 to participate in Murray & Associates LLC’s 2014 Fishing Challenge. Clarkson Port Services Director Celebrates 30 Years Service

Barry Stokes, a director of UK-based Clarkson Port Services (CPS) recently celebrated 30 years' service with the company. Barry was one of the very first CPS staff members, when, in 1983 he opened a Genchem Shipping office in Runcorn to provide vessel agency support to Genchem Chartering (ICI), British Fuels and Arklow Shipping. He built up a profitable and successful operation, integrating it with Vopak and Clarkson Brothers & Casper to further develop the UK agency representation.

Star Bulk Announces Settlement With OLDENDORFF

ATHENS, GREECE, April 13, 2011- Star Bulk Carriers Corp. (the "Company" or "Star Bulk") (NASDAQ: SBLK), today announced that the dispute that had arisen back in October 2008 between the Company's subsidiary Star Beta LLC ("Star Beta") and OLDENDORFF GmbH and Co. KG ("Oldendorff"), sub charterers of the STAR BETA ("the Vessel") concerning the assignment to Star Beta of the charterparty between Oldendorff and Industrial Carriers Inc. ("ICI") has now been settled with the Company receiving a major portion of the quantum of the claim .

Star Bulk 3Q, 9 Mo Results

Star Bulk Carriers Corp. (Nasdaq: SBLK), a global shipping company focusing on transportation of dry bulk cargoes, announced its operating results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2008. •    The Company reported net income of $35.24 million for the third quarter of 2008 compared to net income of $0.94 million for the third quarter of 2007. •    Voyage and time charter revenues were $65.18 million for the third quarter of 2008. This figure includes revenues of $16.89 million attributable to the amortization of the fair value of below/above market acquired time charters. •    Earnings per share, basic and diluted for the third quarter of 2008 were $0.63 and $0.62, respectively.

Alion Wins $31M Navy Contract

Under the five-year contract, Alion will help the NSWCCD expand its Advanced Ship and Submarine Evaluation Tool (ASSET) and enhance the center’s Leading Edge Architecture for Prototyping Systems (LEAPS) software application. NSWCCD, a major component of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), is the Navy’s center of excellence for ship design and maritime technology. ASSET software is used to help the Navy evaluate ship design feasibility. LEAPS is an integrated modeling and simulation environment. Subcontractors under Alion include AMSEC, The Columbia Group, BMT Designers & Planners, , ICI Services and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). Star Bulk Updates Employment Status of Star Beta

Under the related time charter agreement, ICI was obligated to pay Star Bulk a gross daily charter hire rate of $106,500 until February 2010. In turn, ICI sub-chartered the vessel for one year to Oldendorff Gmbh & Co. KG of (Oldendorff) at a gross daily charter hire rate of $130,000 until February 2009. ICI has assigned its rights and obligations under the sub-charter to Star Bulk in exchange for it being released from the remaining term of the ICI charter. Oldendorff has notified Star Bulk that it considers the assignment of the sub-charter to be an effective repudiation of the sub-charter by ICI. Star Bulk believes that the assignment is valid and that its position will prevail in this dispute.

CP Ships Strengthens Financial Management

CP Ships Limited announced a strengthened financial management structure, including new senior positions. David Auger joined CP Ships as Group Financial Controller. He previously held senior group finance positions in the UK with ICI and Invensys and also worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers. A new position, VP Business Control, has been assumed by David Nicklin, who has held a number of senior financial management positions at CP Ships. maintenance of the new SAP financial accounting processes. CSC Wins $25 Million U.S. Navy Order

Computer Sciences Corporation has won a task order from the U.S. Navy to continue its support of the Navy's Strategic Sealift program, including support for the completion and delivery of two new Large Medium-Speed Roll-On/Roll-Off (LMSR) supply ships. The task order, awarded under a contract CSC initially won with the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in 1991, is valued at $25 million if all options are exercised over a three-year period. The company will provide engineering and design facilities as well as professional and engineering services to support the culmination of the decade-long acquisition program for Strategic Sealift supply ships.
