Campbell Shipping Migrates to Inmarsat Fleet Xpress

Inmarsat said it has reached an agreement with Campbell Shipping, a ship management company headquartered in Nassau, The Bahamas, to migrate its fleet of dry bulk carriers to Fleet Xpress. The commitment will involve a migration and upgrade from Inmarsat’s XpressLink services to Fleet Xpress, in a move to ensure ships managed by Campbell ships will continue to have the best satellite connectivity service available on the market, according to Capt. Anindya Dasgupta, VP Human Capital, Campbell Shipping.

Intellian FleetBroadband Compatible with Inmarsat XpressLink

Inmarsat, a provider of global mobile satellite communications services, announced that FleetBroadband terminals manufactured by Intellian are now approved for use with XpressLink, Inmarsat’s fully-integrated Ku-band and L-band solution that utilizes both VSAT and FleetBroadband terminals. XpressLink has become a popular option for shipowners around the world, providing broadband speed data and voice connectivity across a fully redundant and highly resilient service for a fixed monthly fee. XpressLink also offers an upgrade path to Inmarsat’s forthcoming Ka-band service, Global Xpress, which will achieve full global coverage by the end of 2014. Intellian and Inmarsat partnered in 2011 to begin development of Ka-band terminals for Global Xpress.

TORM Streamlines Operations

Inmarsat (LSE:ISAT.L), a provider of global mobile satellite communications services, announces that Copenhagen-based TORM A/S, a carrier of refined oil products and dry bulk cargo, will deploy Inmarsat XpressLink to its owned bulk carrier and tanker fleets. Frontline Commits 100 Vessels to Inmarsat XpressLink

Inmarsat, a provider of global mobile satellite communication services, today announced that Frontline, the world leader in the international seaborne transportation of crude oil, has committed to Inmarsat XpressLink for more than 100 vessels from its existing fleet and its planned new builds. “We evaluated the providers and made a purely commercial decision about XpressLink from Inmarsat,” said Kjell S. Langva of Frontline Management AS. “The choice was made after a year of positive experience with VSAT from Ship Equip”. “The cost-benefit profile and the unmatched failover capability, which offers unlimited usage on Inmarsat FleetBroadband, was key to the decision. Two independent international shipping companies acted immediately and ordered 28 XpressLink systems from Ship Equip. “XpressLink has been enthusiastically embraced by the market, and customers have been quick to respond says CSO Gilles A Gillesen. Stratos Introduces Inmarsat XpressLink

Stratos Global, provider of advanced mobile and fixed-site remote communications solutions, announced the commercial availability of Inmarsat XpressLink from Stratos, its newest managed global broadband service for the maritime industry. Inmarsat XpressLink is the latest addition to Stratos’ maritime broadband portfolio. Inmarsat XpressLink from Stratos offers enhanced Ku-band coverage and bandwidth and leverages the global capabilities of FleetBroadband.
