Liberian Registry Appoints Catsiba Manager in Dubai
Fay Catsiba has joined the Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry (LISCR) as Business Development Manager based in Dubai, U.A.E. Greece-born Fay, who holds a Master of Law from University College London, began her career in shipping 22 years ago as a lecturer in Maritime Law, Transport Law and International Trade Law at the Southampton Institute of Maritime Studies, England. Thereafter, she has held a number of senior positions as claims and insurance manager as well as legal and general counsel for several leading shipping companies in Greece, Switzerland and the Philippines.
GEIMS Maritime Training accorded highest grade from DGS
Great Eastern Institute of Maritime Studies (GEIMS) is now the first approved maritime training Institution in India to achieve the 'outstanding (A1)' grade. The top grading achieved by GEIMS is for all the three approved pre-sea courses being conducted by the institute. German Shipowner Invests in Fleet Rejuvenation
Leer, Germany, not to far from the river Ems entry into the North Sea, with its Institute of Maritime Studies, is the origin of a maritime trade association in the field of logistic, shipping companies, shipping, shipbuilding, carrying business and handling. Thus the city of Leer has grown, after the city of Hamburg, into the largest concentration of shipping companies according to the managed numbers of ships, with around 16 shipping companies operating more than 400 seagoing vessels from here. ShipConstructor Chosen by SONAME
The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers in the Philippines (SONAME) have chosen ShipConstructor detail design software to be used in naval architecture training programs in their country. Samuel Lim, President of SONAME, said his organization has purchased millions of pesos of software to share with educational institutions wishing to train more professionals in this discipline. SONAME has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Asian Institute of Maritime Studies and hopes for other academic institutions to also offer this training. (www.shipconstructor.com)
