Esgian: Rigs on the Move in Asia and Europe

This week Esgian’s Week 50 Rig Analytics Market Roundup notes developments in the semisub sector including that Shell has decided to exercise its option on Stena Don in the North Sea but not on Deepsea Bollsta in Namibia. Meanwhile, a new contract for the Transocean Barents will see it operate in the Black Sea, and jackup Shelf Drilling Perseverance will move to Vietnam.ContractsShelf Drilling has secured a contract award for the 400ft Shelf Drilling Perseverance jackup rig with PetroVietnam Domestic Exploration Production Operating Company Limited (PVEP POC).

West Phoenix to Drill in UK and Norway

Statoil and its partners have contracted the West Phoenix rig for exploration drilling on the U.K. and Norwegian continental shelves from the summer of 2018. The contract is awarded to the two Seadrill companies North Atlantic Drilling UK Ltd. and North Atlantic Norway Ltd. The semi-submersible rig West Phoenix will first drill an exploration well for the Ragnfrid North license on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS), followed by three wells on the U.K. Continental Shelf (UKCS). The rig has been approved by authorities for use both on the NCS and UKCS. “We needed a high capacity rig, because we will be drilling wells in high-pressure, high-temperature formations. We chose the Phoenix, which is a modern 6th generation dual-derrick rig.

Integrated Drilling Service Agreement to Schlumberger

Schlumberger Norway has been awarded a contract with Statoil to provide integrated drilling services for the Norwegian continental shelf licenses Gullfaks, Gullfaks Satellites, Snorre, Statfjord , Tordis/Vigdis, Visund. The agreement also covers exploration drilling on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS). Taking effect on 1 September 2014 the contract has a value of NOK 1.15 billion for an initial duration of two years. The contract also has three optional extensions, each for two years. The contract will provide jobs for some 350 people in Schlumberger Norway over the next two years. Services under the agreement include the delivery of directional drilling, measurement while drilling (MWD), logging while drilling (LWD) and mud logging services.

TWMA Targets Scandinavian Growth

Mr Svensen has more than 22 years’ experience in the upstream oil and gas sector and previously held senior management positions within a number of Norwegian oil and gas service companies. Responsible for managing the implementation of TWMA’s growth strategy for the region, Svensen will play a key role in the further development of the company’s Stavanger and Mongstad bases.

TWMA Wins UKCS Contract with Premier Oil

Two-year agreement with potential for two further one-year extensions. TWMA, the leader in integrated drilling services and environmental solutions for the international onshore and offshore oil and gas industry, has  announced it has secured a substantial contract with UK operator, Premier Oil (Premier), following a comprehensive tender process. The project, worth an estimated £2 million, is already under way with TWMA providing ‘skip and ship’ services to transport drill cuttings…

Integrated Drilling Agreement to Baker Hughes

Baker Hughes has been awarded an agreement with Statoil to provide integrated drilling services for 25 fields on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS). The services will help meet Statoil's expectations for enhanced drilling performance and service quality. The agreement with Baker Hughes will cover the delivery of directional drilling, measurement-while-drilling, logging-while-drilling, mud logging, including 24/7 onshore support and drilling engineering services. "The agreement contributes to the development of improved drilling efficiency which will ensure cost-efficient drilling through focus on the quality of tools, services and personnel." says head of drilling and well in Statoil, Øystein Arvid Håland.

Statoil Awards Drilling Services Contracts

Statoil has extended its contracts with Schlumberger Norge AS and Baker Hughes Norge AS for integrated drilling services. The extensions are valid for two years from the autumn of 2010. The contracts include delivery of directional drilling, measurement while drilling (MWD) and mud logging services for a total of 25 licenses on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS). The total value is estimated at around $0.41b per year. The contract extensions are the result of a comprehensive process that Statoil has carried out to adjust costs in relation to the market for drilling and well services. As operator Statoil has furthermore contracts with other suppliers of similar services that are still under consideration.
