New Draft Restrictions for Parana River and River Plate

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) is advising of a change to under keel clearance (UKC) rules on Parana River and River Plate in Argentina. From November 25, 2016, the Coast Guard has advised that an under keel clearance (UKC) will be applied for vessels which transit Parana River and River Plate with a fresh water draft above 10.36 meters(m). The new restrictions will aid safe navigation. 1. Draft between 10.37m to 10.49m, 3 centimeters for each centimeters of draft above 10.36m in addition to the compulsory UKC of 0.60m. 2. Draft above 10.50m, UKC will be 10% of the static draft. E.g for a ship with a draft of 10.50 m, total UKC will be 1.05m. 1. Draft between 10.37m to 10.67m, 1.5 centimetres for each centimeter of draft above 10.36m in addition to the compulsory UKC of 0.60m.

Strike at Port of Necochea Postponed

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) is advising that planned strike action by customs staff at the Port of Necochea, Argentina, has been lifted and suspended for 15 days. The ‘pen down’ strike was scheduled to take place on the following dates: July 10, July 16 and July 17 2015. ISS Argentina will continue to monitor developments and keep its clients updated.

Strike call at Necochea Port, Argentina

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) is advising of pending strike action by customs staff at the Port of Necochea, Argentina. The ‘pen down’ strike (staff will attend their place of work but not perform any duties) is pay-related and scheduled to take place on the following dates: July 10, July 16 and July 17 2015. ISS Argentina is working to co-ordinate berthing for its clients to avoid the strike and minimise impact where possible. The company will continue to monitor developments and keep its clients updated.

Regulatory Changes at San Lorenzo

Inchcape Shipping Services is issuing guidance about new towage regulations affecting the port of San Lorenzo in Argentina. Effective from 15 December, and in accordance with local Coast Guard regulation PZBP R17 N° 07/14, all vessels mooring at the terminals Axion, Chacabuco (YPF), Nidera, Tránsito, Pampa and Dempa will have to use tug boats for their departure. This will apply to maneuvers and to proceed with navigation either upriver, or to turn downstream. Please note that vessels with LOA up to 160 metres are exempted, for an LOA between 160m and 210m vessels will be required to use one tugboat, and vessels with LOA over 210 meters will be required to use two tugboats. Strike Warning for Argentinian Ports

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS), is advising of a potential general strike in Argentina all day Thursday, April 10, 2014. The Union backed strike will see stoppages in various ports by truck, bus and train drivers, pilot boat masters, linesmen, tug boat operators and stevedores. The strike is expected to affect all shipping operations in the port of San Lorenzo-Rosario. Particularly affected will be transits at Zona comun and pilot boat operations through Rio de la Plata, and the Parana River.

Argentinian Ports Hit by Further Strike Action

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS), a  maritime services provider, is advising of a 24 hour general strike in Argentina on Tuesday 20th November. The strike will affect all transportation including ports, airports, trains and road transport. It is anticipated that all ships will remain at anchorage or berth, depending on conditions. Immigration, customs, health and agriculture staff will all be involved in the strike, as well as port administration employees. ISS Argentina has confirmed that as with previous strikes, main roads and highways will be blocked in Buenos Aires including key access routes to the city. Says Francisco Villagran…
