Keppel O&M Delivers Dual-fuel Dredger to Van Oord

Singaporean shipbuilder Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) announced it has delivered Vox Ariane, the first in a series of three new 10,500-cubic-meter-capacity trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHD) for Dutch contracting company Van Oord.The high-specification dredger can run on liquefied natural gas (LNG), making it the first dual-fuel TSHD built in Singapore, according to the builder.Tan Leong Peng, Managing Director (New Builds), Keppel O&M, said,  “LNG plays an important role in the clean energy transition.

Van Oord Orders Royal IHC Dredge System

Royal IHC, the provider of design and construction for the specialist maritime sector, has been awarded another contract by Van Oord to design and supply the dredge installation for its new 10,500m3 trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD).The suction pipe installation with underwater pump, two dredge pumps and three jet water pumps will be installed on the new TSHD and built in Singapore.Earlier this year, IHC was commissioned to deliver similar systems for two other Van Oord TSHDs.“We were delighted to receive this repeat order from Van Oord, a long-standing and highly valued customer of ours,” says IHC Group Executive Director Diederik van Rijn.

Van Oord and Shell Marine Sign Five-Year Partnership

Global maritime contractor Van Oord has signed a five-year partnership agreement with Shell Marine covering the lubrication needs for its entire fleet of vessels.The all-inclusive agreement was acknowledged in a special ceremony, staged at the Van Oord headquarters in Rotterdam, where Jaap de Jong signed on behalf of Van Oord and Inbar van de Burg reciprocated on behalf of Shell Marine. Shipbuilding: Keppel Bags Order for Van Oord Dredgers

Keppel Singmarine Pte won contracts from Van Oord to build two Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers (with an option for a third), the shipbuilder announced, scheduled for completion in 4Q 2020 and 2Q 2021 respectively. Built to the standards of Bureau Veritas, Each TSHDs will have a hopper capacity of 10,500 cubic meters, and more importantly for environmental concerts, both will be equipped with dual-fuel systems capable of running on LNG. "We are pleased to work with Keppel on these modern and environmentally-friendly dredgers which will strengthen our mid-class dredger fleet as well as our presence in the region. Last month we already launched our first LNG powered crane vessel," said Jaap de Jong, Staff Director, Ship Management Department at Van Oord.

Offshore Cable Layer Delivered to Van Oord

Damen delivered a new DOC 8500 cable laying vessel, Nexus, to international offshore contractor Van Oord on December 22. The 126-metre vessel is intended for the installation of electricity cables for offshore wind farms. Van Oord is currently making preparations for the Gemini offshore wind farm which will be constructed 55 kilometers to the north of Schiermonnikoog, one of the Dutch Wadden Islands, and the cable-laying vessel will be deployed initially at that site. Wärtsilä Sign Van Oord Parts & Service Agreement

Wärtsilä and Van Oord, the Netherlands-based contractor for dredging and offshore projects, have entered into an exclusive partnership for all field service and parts supply. The agreement covers preventive and corrective engine maintenance by Wärtsilä on Van Oord's fleet of dredging and other vessels. The contract has a total value of EUR 30 - 40 million over three years. The framework agreement will enable both parties to plan the required service work well in advance, thereby ensuring minimal vessel downtime and the effective use of human resources.
