Cummins QSK95 Propulsion for Ferry Newbuild

Azam Marine’s next newbuild, Kilimanjaro VII, will be the first passenger ferry powered by QSK95 propulsion engines from engine manufacturer Cummins. Cummins Delivers First QSK95 Engines

Manufacturer of diesel engines and generator sets for the marine industry Cummins Inc. said it recently delivered the first four QSK95 engines for a marine application, with four additional units to be delivered in December. The engines were delivered to longtime Cummins partner SEACOR Marine Holdings Inc. for installation into a 57-meter catamaran crewboat designed by Incat Crowther. “We are extremely excited to be working with SEACOR Marine to launch the first QSK95 marine engines,” said Jim Schacht, Executive Director - Marine Market, Cummins Inc.

Cummins Inc. has created a dedicated Cummins Marine organization within the existing Engine Operating Segment. By consolidating its commercial and recreational teams, the Cummins Marine organization will be better positioned to serve the business and its recreational, government service and commercial marine customers, the company said. Cummins Marine will be led by Jim Schacht, formerly General Manager and Executive Director of Cummins Commercial Marine. Schacht will continue to report to Ed Pence, Cummins Vice President and General Manager - High Horsepower Engine Business.

Working in close cooperation with the Cummins distributor network, Schacht will be responsible for all commercial marine business activities for the Engine Business Unit (EBU) globally, including business development and support.
