Callan Marine Christens New Dredge General Arnold
Galveston, Texas based dredging contractor Callan Marine announced it has christened its newest cutter suction dredge (CSD), General Arnold, built by C&C Marine and Repair in Belle Chasse, La.The 32-inch CSD was ceremoniously christened in Corpus Christi, Texas, on February 20, 2024, and will immediately begin work on Phase Four of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel Improvement Project. The project will beneficially reuse 100%of the dredged material removed from the channel deepening and widening.The General Arnold is the newest, largest, and most environmentally friendly dredge in the U.S.
DiCosimo to Chair Greater Houston Port Bureau
The Greater Houston Port Bureau Board of Directors announced Vincent DiCosimo, vice president of government affairs at Targa Resources, will assume the position of the chairman of the board on January 1, 2024. Callan Marine Adds New Cutter Suction Dredge
Galveston, Texas based Callan Marine has added a new cutter suction dredge to its fleet.The new dredge General Marshall was constructed by DSC Dredge beginning at Poplarville, Mo., and completed construction at Reserve, La., before being launched at the Kennedy Shipyard in Galveston.At 194 feet long and 41 feet wide, with an 18-inch suction and discharge diameter, General Marshall is equipped with a total of 3,005 horsepower and features advanced production automation and monitoring systems.“This is the seventh dredge to join the Callan Marine fleet…
Millennium Class Tanker Christened
ARCO Marine, Inc. unveiled its first state-of-the-art Millennium Class tanker at a christening ceremony at Litton Avondale Industries in metro New Orleans. The 125,000 dwt crude oil tankers are setting the standard for safety at sea, with double hulls, twin engine rooms, twin propellers, twin rudders and a sophisticated navigation and control system, which allows the control of the ship from a single joystick. The sponsor is Teresa Sullivan, wife of John Sullivan, vice-president engineering, ARCO Marine. She christened ARCO Endeavour with the traditional champagne bottle. The Millennium Class "next generation" tankers measure 895 ft. (272.7 m) in length, with a beam of 152 ft.(46.3 m) and a depth of 83 ft.
